  • Vario Bell 47G 2 with Benzine Mechs

    Hi Everyone,
I've just purchased a Vario Bell 47G 2 with Benzine mechanics and an electric start on the Engine.
The mechanics were originally a pod and boom to run the engine in has only been used for maximum 2 hours hovering.
The scale conversion had only just been started so nothing much had been done except to have the boom powder coated white then fitted to the mechs. So the Bell 47G is as new.
I'm going to dismantle everything and start from scratch so it will probably be a long process as I have never really done a proper scale project before.I had a T-Rex 500 that I put into a Airwolf Fuse but that was it.
As of yet I'm unsure what colour scheme to go for and would be up for any suggestions with pictures of course.I was thinking army colours for the ease of painting but would look at anything.
Over the coming days, weeks, months or years (hopefully not years)I will try and log my progress and I hope that the pro scalers out there will give me plenty of help and encouragement.
I will get up some pics later as the heli is at the moment.
    Thanks
    Dave

Lots of links to pics of real 47's in these pages. Book on 47 in very last post. You'll never be able to choose from looking at all the schemes. A true scaler will have a book....you gotta have a book!

Not quite sure what you mean Boggy.

Anyway, here's some pics and by golly it's a big one and bloody heavy.

The next step will be to dismantle and clean because everything is very dusty from being in storage.

I'm liking the Orange and White Scheme

Keep this thread open for comments and start a new one for the rebuild where you can add pictures build blogs etc, but keep that one locked so only you can add to it. That way you get a nice uninterrupted build thread. With links to here for people who want to add or comment.

Before Airwolf, before Blue Thunder, before MASH, there was - "Whirlybirds"!

                              WHIRLYBIRDS

Since the original TV series was in black & white, and because several different helicopters masqueraded as "N975B", picking a colour scheme has always been tricky. I based mine on what I remember from watching the show as a kid.

However, that website has lots of images of Bell 47s, which should provide some useful inspiration!

No matter how much you push the envelope, it'll still be stationery.
