which ARTF EDF jet?

my F27c stryker is still flying great. ive had about 80 flights with it and its still on all the original electrics + prop

Another update.

The Squall has been scrapped as it's just too mangled to ever fly right again.

But I've attached pics of it's replacement which will hopefully be maidened this weekend. :)

i would take the wheels off and just hand launch it.

My local model shops has these in and boy does it look good although the graupner one is the same but costs like 100 notes more.

Ripmax stock all parts for the squall i think its around £40 for new fuz and wings.

Madderdog, my original plan was to hand launch it as you suggest but the servo arms would catch on landing and it would require a bungee/catapult launch.

That wasp e2k looks like serious fun for very little money, I'm quite tempted by that!

I was thinking about repairing the squall with those spares but might just gut it for the radio gear and use it in a e2k.

Thanks for reminding me to put an update up Grant!

The Hawk was maidened and it flew for about 5 seconds before stalling and crashing.
After hand launch it didn't gain altitude and was at stalling point until it dropped a wing and did a cartwheel.
The damage wasn't too bad, ripped out the wing mounting points.

I think the problem was that it's designed for a runway take off, but all my local flying sites are bumpy grassy fields.

It's going to be flown again but this time I'm going to travel to a site that has a proper runway.


With regards to the E2K it's being built now and the Squall has been scrapped for electronics.
I might get another one depending on how I get on with the E2K.

I'd like to convert it to electric and ideally run it on two 2200mah 3 cell packs. I have started looking around for an inexpensive motor / esc setup but haven't found what looks like the ideal choice just yet.

The Squall (EDF) doesn't need a runway and in fact lands better on grass imo.
So you could always get one of those, but I'd suggest starting with the traininer you've already bought as it'll be much easier to fly and you should be able to fly it at Epsom Downs.

Have you had a look on the HobbyKing site as they have a very extensive range of motors?

Yeah I have just started to browse around a bit and the prices, especially on ESCs, varies dramatically. So my goal is to do it cheaply but not have something that's going to burn up on the first flight. It needs to be a pretty low KV motor if I want to run it on 6 cells, either that or something that will run on 11.1 volts and I could maybe run two packs in parallel.
