My first proper heli was a Flybarred Raptor .30 and I did a huge part of my learning with that.. But I now fly a Flybarless t-rex 550e which i prefer both for FBL & its powered with eleeeectriscity.
Any future helis will also be flybarless.. I just like the neater looking head, it fits into a heli bag with no faffing, less slop in the head, less parts to replace on the head, more settings to twiddle with and the setup can be changed in flight at the flick of a switch... no changing from sport paddles to 3D paddles etc.
In short... it must be better else the market wouldn't follow it... you'll notice a lot of people are converting to FBL and staying with it.
Having said all that though... a flybar is cheaper than a box full of wizardry lol
All Helis are listed in my profile - only one 250 left to convert. From FB have converted all 250s, 1 x 450 & 1 x 500.
For me, they all flew better after conversion, hence going totally FBL ;-)

Very true about the ease of transport / fitting in a heli bag. Ordinarily this is not much of a concern but the lack of a flybar does make things easier when carrying helis and results in one less fragile thing to potentially get damaged in transit.
I also started with a Raptor 30 and still have a Raptor 50V2 with an HTR metal head, on the one hand it might be interesting to convert it to FBL but on the other hand the head is a work of art and I'd hate to change it. (and it flies very well)

I remember only a few years back paying £120 for a futaba gy401 gyro for my 500 and the gy611 was the equivalent of a vbar now !!!

All I saw was 'Do you still use' & in my head I automatically said 'flybar' lol. I feel a shameless posting of my 'proper' Logo 500. Anyone who's flown a flybarred logo knows they fly shit hot flybarred or FBL. I see no reason for me to go FBL on this unless I destroy all my flybarred heads as the conversion cost is so high. If/when that time comes I may convert it to a 600 or 600SE. I am probably going to convert either my 450 or 250 first though with the crazy cheap Fu-bar or the beastX type one from HK. My airwolf as FBL would look good.
Maybe conventional gyro wont be available so we might have to convert ?.who knows.
For instance people like CSM wont produce gyro anymore.HOPE THIS DOESN'T BECOME THE REALITY
No flybars for me anymore, my Gaui550 was FB, but the Gaui 425 was FBL. Preferred the FBL so converted (£50) 550 and love it!!
Logo with a v-bar is something completely different all together
OK guys
I have just converted my 600 nitro.just to try it as mentioned by waveydave.
Align head and 3gx system.
Spin blades 600MM fbl.
Thundertiger 53
So it will be interesting
As said above, all mine are now FBL but I learned on flybarred. I would recommend this approach personally, but aside from the cost, FBL has mainly only benefits over flybarred IMO.
I can see the attraction of FBL but I agree with Gixerman and Paddy. I am still learning to fly properly and I consider that I should walk before I can run. My 130x is of course FBL but I can't rally say that I understand it. I am sure that I will convert to FBL eventually but I would like to be sure that I know what I am doing first. When I am confident that I can set up, trim and fly a model then I may consider getting in some elecktronickery.
