Lol, I hear this a lot, especially from some of my club members who cannot get the FBL unit to work how they want.
Personally, I put on a FBL unit so it doesn't fly like a FB model :-)

Do you still use a flybarred heli Yes/no

It's taken me a long time to get used to Fbl, I find the biggest difference is in wind. A fb model feels much more natural in the wind where a Fbl Heli seems to beat the air into submission.

Fbl has odd quirks. I find it try's to tuck under itself in turns especially if its windy.

Once your used to it it's fine but its different

Couldn't agree more. I never got my FB helis to fly as well as my FBL ones. My own incompetence I am sure.

no more flybars for me! I was a late converter I thought, putting it off for ages. Now I would not go back... fbl is so much better, no comparison (for my sport flying that is)

A decent mix, I love them all, several people have told me the Srimok is the best flybarred machine ever made, I agree because I'm biased but they all fly better than me. I quite enjoy the laptop at the field tinkering, but I try my very best to have the mechanical side set up perfectly and not just letting the FBL unit compensate. I think everyone should build and fly a flybar just for the learning experience.

Do you still use a flybarred heli Yes/no

I haven't had an FB heli for over 12 months now. Tried beastx and vbar and never had an issue with either.

The big benefit in my view is bank switching on the vbar. I have 3 different helis at the flick of a switch - one where the responsiveness is high one where its low and one in between. That coupled with flight mode for head speed allows me to work on slow speed/ basic stuff versus quicker stuff without having to do any setup work / plug in!

                        Fbl all the way!!

I've only really got 2 heli's. A Trex-450 Sport and a 250-DFC. Obviously the 250-DFC was bought FBL and at the time I was in the middle of a 14 month battle to suss out what on earth was up with the 450. I was at the stage of assuming it was the Gyro (it wasn't entirely in the end). I hate building, and in particular I found the FB head of the 450 a right pain so after building the 250 which was soooo, much simpler, and then immediately doing full circuits on my first flight with it - something I'd never been able to do on the 450 I was kind of smitten with the FBL set up.

That said, I still didn't rush out to convert the 450, I spotted a still sealed but 2nd hand 3GX unit for about half price and picked that up, then picked up the head conversion later. In the meantime I resolved the 450's issues and have been getting on quite nicely with that one's FB setup. I'm only "sport" flying at the moment, circuits etc., so my philosophy is that I'll convert the 450 to FBL when it get's stacked and the FB is written off. At that point there won't be any point in buying replacement FB parts. I'll just need a set of FBL carbon blades and I'll be good to rebuild and go.

That day isn't yet though and I'm in no rush. I'm just enjoying it how it is right now - much to the annoyance of a friend whose converted his 500 to FBL and wants to compare notes
