apart from slop on the tail, i never had trouble with mine during build

well i lied - the slider was notchy when tightened so i had to leave it loose enough to free it from being notchy. i just put lots of loctite to make sure it stays there.
i do have another slider that i bought but not put in. mine is working ok so far so i'll leave it be

What, exactly, is the problem with the tail?
Weeeeeellllllll.......the problem is that the small plastic control links are sometimes (ok ok well mostly) wider than the small brass collar 'B' and 'A' so it is stiff and not free. You have to carefully remove any flashing and carefully file down the link until it is just smaller than the brass collar 'B' and 'A'.

Occasionally also the tail rotor control arm has the same issue (mine did even though it was the metal version!!) so also needs a bit of fettling

          Hi Vicki,
With this being your first build I thought to let you know that it is good practice to soak or clean off machining oil residue from all the screws, bolts etc with alcohol as the locktite will not work properly.
Good luck and I hope you enjoy the build,I love building them ))

You'll enjoy the build (think I've said that before ) They go together really well, just make sure you pull all the pre-built components apart and re-tighten/threadlock after checking for binding/slop etc. If you're over enthusiastic with the file/sandpaper give me a shout I've got some spare links

Oh yeah.....start early because once you've started you won't want to stop until it's done. I made the mistake of starting my re-build at 10.30pm the other night......

              Oh! My! GOD!!!

I've just viewed the manual (thud). Please wait while unconcious human comes round, beep, beep, beep....

Yes, slow, yes, and steady. Slow and steady. Steady and study every part. (THUD!). Please wait while unconcious human comes round, beep, beep, beep....

Righttttt, wow but this looks like it's going to be great fun Can't wait to get (casts eye at manaul THUD!) Please wait... damn but you know the drill - hehehe.

That looks like a whole lot of fun to be head right there. Gonna keep my mind off ciggies that's for sure (I don't drink alcohol but I could soon start). Can't be any harder than a kit of castings I had to machine up to make a steam engine once.

Vikki you have an advantage over us men, you read the manual...us men just plough on with the build...wonder why I always have screws left over

Anyway there's only 15 pages of actual build, the rest is setting up etc (well my 500 manual is) so you'll have it done by tonight

How's the build coming on....finished yet

The control links on the tail of the 500pro are plastic although KDE do a metal upgrade which im thinking of buying
The heli is a beast though, stacks of power very stable, although very agile at the same time, love it! lots of headspeed is your friend, the way the pro's tail is geared the higher the heedspeed you can stand the better it helps the tail hold, too low of a head speed the tail will blowout.

                            Enjoy the build!

Now all I need is a method to prevent him yelling 'EXPELIARMUS' at every passing seagulk!
