I've not got as far as cable routing yet, cross that bridge when I come to it
Heli, followed your advice before I got it, hehehehe, psychic
I had the 3gx removed at the shop and saved some money. I'm putting an AR7200BX in him. Going to take my time over set up 'cause there's no way I'm spinning Harry up in our narrow garden.

The cable routing is the bit I hate, I meant to get some expanding wire mesh to go round the cables and neaten things up but ended up just running the cables and tie clipping to the frames. Still got to neaten up the wires behind the RX but I'll do that when I take the base off to connect the motor wires!Originally posted by Vikki View PostI've not got as far as cable routing yet, cross that bridge when I come to it
Sounds like you're getting on with it, looking forward to seeing the photos etc in the new thread
PS if you want some hook and loop to go on the batteries send me a pm (I sell it to fund my heli addiction on fleabay) as I have some 38mm wide & 50mm wide offcuts you can have.

if no one has mentioned it yet, head over to helifreaks and look up the build thread by ROTARYGUY. 500 EFL PRO Super Combo Build Thread (Vbar) - HeliFreak
It's the best build thread ever and the wiring on it is just immaculate.

i'm now having the trouble of replanning my wiring to accommodate an AR7200. Easiest and quitters' way (I guess) is to just mount the fbl unit on top but i want everything still to be hidden so I may still place my AR7200 on the bottom still hidden...Originally posted by dani_r View Post+1 on that. Hopefully I'll get the unit today so I can start.

Gave up bothering with neat wiring long ago.
Run it the most convenient route, it will need to come out sometime or other and then it's a pain to get out and redo if it's run inside the frame.
Can't see it in the air and it doesn't affect flying.TRex 500 FBL DFC VBar Pro Blueline, Standard Align Setup.

Wow that build thread by rotarguy was amazingly detailed. Very helpful. I redid my 3Gx wiring about 3 different ways during rebuilds and had it looking perfect in the end.
I have my esc the other way around with the wires coming out the top of the battery tray. Just couldn't seem to get it to fit the other way and get the bec cable long enough. With the bec wire facing back it gives you a couple of extra inches which made it easier.
Also with the cables in-between the tail box bolts you can't get the tail out without unplugging a lot of wires or unbolting a lot of the frame to squeeze past.
I need to do mine again as since I upgraded to full size vbar it doesn't fit in-between the frames. So all has ended up external for now. Only had a very short time when I put together so didn't have the hours of head scratching required to get all to fit nicely.
Ther have been a lot of suggestions to put the gyros on the bottom tray as less vibes than above the tail. Not sure how important that is but if you can go either way maybe the bottom is the trend.
Look forward to seeing wiring pics.
Cheers

Spot on imo, Im functional rather than neat and tidyOriginally posted by bikerflier View PostGave up bothering with neat wiring long ago.

People seem to spend an age wiring there helis then when they crash or change things it takes forever to sort out. As long as the wiring is safe and doesnt chaff on the sharp frames or bind anywhere then go fly

Vikki, I forgot to ask. They let you take the 3gx out of the combo kit and gave you a credit for it? I am planning my next project in my head. Still a way off. The thing that is making me look past align at the moment is the 3gx. Sure my other optoion will cost more even if I do upgrade the align but it's the principal of it that's getting to me. If I could buy a combo kit without the 3gx might be a different story.
Cheers

Most shops will swap out the FBL unit for the one of your choice and make the appropriate cost adjustment if necessary. They're all pretty good really. I swapped out the 3GX on my 600EFL for the Bx unit.Very proud to be an Align-Trex.co.uk Team Pilot!
