Anybody who doesnt mind ordering from Hong Kong may wanna check Fungs website
www.flying-hobby.com he has some pretty good 500 packages and this is where he comes good on price
I have had 6 flights on my 500 today with the standard BEC without problems and i pushed it harder every flight so,so far so good, still being cautious though but i need to know whether i can trust it or not..Currently not using any capacitor or anything like that, just relying on BEC
had 2 flights over my local industrial estate this morning, just flipping around and looping, recharged Lipos en route to DMHC and did 2 quick flights there then off for food with Lipos charging for another 2 flight this afternoon at the Avon club, flew it harder still there and on last flight pushed the Lipos until it would barely hover, yeh its wrong i know but i didnt wanna land it
On the one Maxpoly and One Revo 2100 it was pretty good but wouldnt tic toc easily,on the 2 Electrolite 2200`s it was a little worse..
My opinion of the model now is very high,it really does fly very much like a 600 and makes some lovely noisesbut it does need higher MAH lipos to make the most of it,i know tests are ongoing so i will await the results
All in all,a very nice little model that will be getting much use

TBH Chris I am going with the FlightPower 5s and 6s batteries and keeping my fingers crossed.
Took mine out for a couple of packs today with some light sports flying and it went the whole 8 minutes with both 6s packs..
Maybe hard 3D flyers are looking for something different.
PS: You are correct about the 500 mate, Its a beautiful heli and will be a big seller for Align.

when I looked on Fungs site a few days back he was barely cheaper than the prices here...Phil

I wanna keep away from hard 3d too,it does not bring out the best in me,i prefer nice aeros and a tiny bit of gentle 3d.I am also hell bent on a 5s setup,i have a 15tooth pinion on order and if maxpoly or Aurorra dont offer a suitable pack that fits i will get the TP 3300 5s as this has been proved to work, also looked at Flightpowers offerings as well
Loving the heli though,so much nicer to fly than the 450 although i am keeping my 450 for pure entertainment value however the 500 i feel will offer a much more rewarding flight
Duration wise,i am happy with 6 mins maximum and leave plenty of reserve in the pack

I get nothing in return for saying this but Leeds model shop are the cheapest by far in the UK for the T-Rex 500.
T-Rex 500CF with no blades £236.99... Can be bought with blades too in a combo kit..
T-Rex 500GF with no blades £219.99... Can be bought with blades too in a combo kit..

Where Fung sometimes comes into hi own is when you buy a complete package deal as long as the deal has the right stuff,he has a complete setup for the CF one with DX7 and AR7000 rx for £575 and this is assembled by them, they will discount further for supply only, depends what your after really, but Leeds Models is a great price which keeps others on their toes which i like
But as Phil said,Align are actually pretty well priced which makes a change in the UK

I am soooooo tempted guys
One thing holds me back from buying one, well 2 actualy but we wont go into the 2nd one
This is what it is, my 450 se v2 is the best heli for me at the moment I get silly amounts of stick time in on it.
I have 4 x 3s revo packs all 2100's & can nip up the field at any oportunity & get 4 flights in in 30 minuets & be home within the hour.
Now what I need to know from you guys who are in the know & have owned or flown the 450 se v2 is would you get rid of your 450 se v2 & keep your 500?
That's a toughy because if you truly would sell it for this then thats one hell of an endorcement for the 500 in my book.

I would not personally sell my 450V2 but this is because i still intend to use it a great deal and second hand value would be low i reckon,i would not sell the gyro or Rx from it so it wouldnt be a working model..
You need to do plenty of research into the 500 and see if it would benefit you personally, this will be made easier hopefully as more fliers start using them and reporting back.
I would think the 500 is still parkflyable but it also is a decent size for the flying field, also it really does fly much more like the 600 than the 450 which is exactly what i was after,i love the 450 but didnt want a bigger version of it,but i did want a smaller version of the 600 and i personally feel that this is exactly what the 500 is

I can only voice my opinion as a novice flyer Martin but the answer is definately yes..
Having done two flights with my 500 today I can honestly say it fly's much better than the 450, I think we all know the 450 does drift in the wind, The 500 was as stable as the 600E I own. That must be worth something.
Why sell the 450 though, Its a great fun heli that can share your packs with a 500, Just buy the kit and away you go..
[EDIT]
Chris beat me to it but the answer is the same..

I'd guess Leeds are working with hardly any margin at all with those prices
RealRaptors are £265 for the FG version with no bladesPhil
