I'm getting 9650s as I've seen 600s 3D using them on aftermarket frames. If they can fly a 600 then they can certainly do a 500.
    Great stuff,cheers Ash

I want you guys to get one airbourne as i wanna hear good reports before i commit to one

I overtook a UPS van on the way home so that one won't work on me...

These servos are really popular in gliders.
down to a bit over 18 quid each from the states, so its hardly worth importing.

Does slop in the gear train matter with a digital servo? surely it will just drive one way or the other, so all that happens is ther is some miniscule time lag when the servo is umloaded at centre. I doubt there is ever no load on a ccpm servo.
I guess someone on here can say if they can feel the difference in new servos compared to ones with worn backlash in the gear train? (slop in the ouput shaft bearings is a different thing of course).

Even if I do and think it's great I'll get accused of being biased so I'll just let the videos do the talking...

The way i always saw it,when there is slop in the gears, especially on a direct CCPM system you get innacuracy and wobble on the swash

A friend had a Fury 90 with metal geared Hitecs and after a few flights there was play and it detracted from the accuracy of the heli

I love the Hitec Karbonites but wont touch metal,i use hs85 hb`s on the 450 and never broke a gear and there is zero backlash

                      • I know many people use metal geared servos and love them but i never have personally got on with them..

On RC monster trucks we used metal geared steering servos and after a few weeks the slop was a joke

If Hitec did a Karbonite servo suitable for the 500 i would get them but it would have to be 9650`s as it stands

                        • if i get 9650's i think it would have to be from ricks for $49. i'd much rather buy from UK but it's over 2x the price here if i want those servos and funds tight for crimbo as it is. i always buy uk when i can and i don't mind paying a bit more for the uk service....but, there is a line and double is a bit much.

altough i still have half a mind to buy the hitecs purely because i can get them here and still a good servo....decisions.

                          cheers

Why wait till tonight to slap it together. Tonight's reserved for flying it...

Unfortunatly our UPS drive doesn't look like the one on the hot girls thread on a certain other forum, will be a bit of compensation for you if your deos:-)

A little thing called work gets in the way of me building it right now.
