            pmsl well they are wrong!!

anyway, harder dampeners for high headspeeds and quicker more aggressive flying, softer dampeners for slower, less agressive flying with a lower headspeed

if you find a headspeed u like and your heli has a wobble on try softer dampeners

Instead of smart arse responses anyway.... back to the point of the thread..... Yes dampers/dampeners do make a difference in flight. I use KBDD orange and they give the cyclic i much more crisp and immediate feel to the heli. Different levels of hardness give different performance characteristics. Harder ones are used for 3d normally. Although i used them mainly because i was sick of the slop developing in the head due to the short life span of the Align ones. Made the head much more rigid and i like the direct feel they give. The gains can need to be tweaked if the head becomes too ridged as nodding can develop. But i like the way my helis feel with them and have not had any bad flight characteristics develop when using them. But... my friends 450 did develop a bit of a nod wit them. But he is using an RJX head which is pretty bloody rigid as it comes

Squeaky Pete.... i suggest you look up Dampers in the dictionary. It is not wrong. It is correct. Expressing your opinion in such a childish way is... well.... childish. Dampers and Dampeners basically mean the same thing. But well done for actually getting back on topic. This forum is to help people. Not try to ridicule them for using what YOU feel is an incorrect term.

im a childish person so you cant really tell me that, i already know this lol

if your want mega hard dampeners then check to see if the ely q ones will fit, they are as hard as the come, and i mean your be struggling to get the feather shaft through it, i know they will fit a rappy, else kdbb or truebloods are as hard as your want to go, saying that, my velo is running stock black ones, my fusion is running stock black ones, my ely qs where running stock, thinking about it ive only ever changed the dampeners n a trex600 and 700 from back in the day

The hardest I can find. Green true blood on my 250, stock on my mini (couldn't find anything harder). They do make a lot of difference.

FAI pilots usually run much softer dampers than 3D pilots because of the improved hovering and self-correcting tendencies in wind, but they still run a pretty high head speed when they go upstairs for the aerobatic parts of the schedules. So softer dampers don't necessarily mean low head speed, but definitely need less aggressive flying.

I've just got ready (might maiden it tomorrow maybe if I get home early enough) a 90 size FAI dedicated machine and have never come across such soft dampers - 1 x 50 and 1 x 60 duro O ring (3D helis are usually up in the 80/90 duro mark range on hardness scale) in each side of the head block, so it will make interesting flying for me. If I grab the blade grips in each hand, I can very easily move the feathering shaft all over the place, unlike most of my other models which allow very little (if any) movement.

I use the stock Mikado Logo 600 "Hard" ones work fine up to like 120 flights (probably beyond) so I just run them... I swap them with new ones but don't notice a difference lol...

Why? Because they work well .

sorry steve, i ment that purely as if u wanna run a lower headspeed then use softer dampeners, not a must, just a general thing

Thats correct Moyesboy. You will notice how squeaky Petes response about him being childish was a clever deflection once realising the fact that he was wrong . Lol
