In my fleet the 700 is bar far my favourite, love it to bits.
But to go from a 450 to a 700 is a massive leap and can be very intimidating so would not recommend yet.
The 550 really surprised me and is a cracking heli.
But have you thought about a 50 size elec, outrage fusion 50 is just out, and I am mid build now, hoping to fly it next weekend and can't wait. Also it runs on 2x 500 packs so if you get a 500 the same packs will run both helis

I haven't really looked at 600/50 size electric. I'd heard that the trex600e is a little underpowered, and not as crisp as the newer 550e. So that kind of stopped me looking further. I will have a look though. I learnt on my .45 sized (so near as a 50/600size) Moskito and I've flown a few .60s years ago, so I don't think I'd be that intimidated by a 700, which is not that much bigger than an old fashioned 60.

Part of the appeal of the 550e, is that if I can buy pairs of packas as I can afford them, I'll have packs if I ever move on to a 700e.

But to get myself back on track, I'm trying to work out what's the best heli to have on the assumption it's the only one you're going to be flying for a year or few. Would people really put up with running costs of a 700 for every location, opportunity, flight (and crash)?

If anything I'm tempted by a 700n FBL and the knowledge that the heli is way better than me. But that brings greater sensitivity around where and when I can fly, not to mention how eager I might be to push for progress. I'm thinking a 700e will just cost too much by the time I've bought 3 or more packs for it (which I think you need if it's your main heli) together with the required monster charger.

My other problem is I'm quite a Trex fan. Look like a lot of Heli for the money, so my thinking behind this question is to get a steer on size but also what other makes I should be looking at.

I love my O550! The 550 class is hard to beat, the Trex is ok but Outrage stuffs arsome plus it's a proper 550 or if you've not bought lipos yet, the Fusions quite special to.

at the moment a T-Rex 450 pro with Mikado FBL head and V-bar.
Sad as it may sound, I've got two .90 helis, a 600, two 550 and a 250. The 450 leaves them all eating dust.
It's also the most difficult to fly, but that's just what I need right now.

What do you mean by proper 550?

Not bought anything yet. Just working up to what I can get once I've sold my car (1 toy out, 1+ toys in). Only lipos at the moment are 2200 3s.

That's interesting. Does that mean that I'm likely to find a new toy easier to fly? I too really like my 450, but the wind slams it too easily.

If my fairy godmother slapped a few hundred quid in my hands for quick disposal, I would be after a flybarless TRex550.......packaged with a nice DX8.

It's the absence of said fairy godmother that means I need to sell my biggest toy. Then the heli will be to soften the pain and ease the mourning process.

runs 550mm blades as opposed to 520mm that everyone uses on the Rex plus the O550 uses a push/pull set up on the servos like the big helis.

Great thing about a 550 is one lipo (5000mha 6s) charge them in 30 min plug and play

Does the O550 use the same 6s 5000 pack then?

Is the Furion about the same?

Very true but doesnt make a shit of difference in flight..

I got 550mm NHP's for my Logo 500 but now you mention it Tim I will try them on the Trex.
They were recommended to me by Mat over the pants stock ones that come with the Logo.

Dont know why I never thought about that

Have you tried the Align 520's and if so was there much difference?

Align 520's are very quick and agile.

NHP 550's are more precise and accurate.

If I had to just pick 1 of my fleet it would be the 700le, it is all stock align gear with a OS 91 on a mp6 pipe and it fly's very smoothly, You seam to like the 550 but what about the gaui x5 I have just had it test flown by our club instructor and he was very impressed by it.

I have run 550 blades on my Rex 550 fine it's just Align supply 520's

Also Mikado is direct to swash and they fly well apparently
