  • trex700 le out of the box upgrades

just a q.q. do i need to buy any important upgrades for the t700le out of the box?

  • #2
    yes most definately...

The align tail blade grips, thrust bearing assembly and tail hub are S*IT if you ask me...So much slop im surprised align are not too embarassed to send it in the box.

Get the quick uk kit and sleep at night.

Im amazed so many others are still running the orig...it laughable how bad it is.

I also put the microheli 90deg tail arm on to stiffen that up a bit too.

            Non-sense!!!!!!

Pull it out of the box, build as per instructions and go fly. Mine have done many hours of work built as standard. I've put a few upgrades on from time to time but they have made very little difference......

The only advice I would give is be very meticulous about assembling the tail slider section. If you get a bit trigger happy with the loctite you will bind the sliding mechanism up after the loctite sets !!!!

Apart from that, follow the manual, use loctite in the correct places and have hours of fun
            Cheers Matt

Had my 700 (non LE - black head version) for well over a year now and have never lost a ball link, never had a main gear strip, never had a tail failure, never had anything fail in flight at all. It's bog-standard and just gives me plenty of enjoyable flying with only minimal maintenance required.

I've changed the main shaft bearings and head dampers once I think, had one prang with it and treated it to a new canopy, just for a change of scenery.

I'm with Mattie - just go build it and fly.

I agree with Matt just build the frames square as in manual with main shaft in the bearing blocks and pintch the bolt up from side to side as so the shaft is a true fit I have had over 600hrs on my schools machine(trex 6oo pro),with genral maintance and still on the grey main gear set.also use some thread locker on the tail hub(where it meets the sharft on with red thread locker!! Go fly and have fun!!

i have just put the quick uk tail grips and hub on mine but this was just what i wanted to do. i think the tail bolt failiures are mostly due to over tightening the bolts but only the people who have had this happen can say if that was the case or not.

I saw Dave Fisher using the align tail blade grips and I could see them moving in the wind at Charmouth when the model wasn't being flown.
looked like they was loose.( so I told Dave as I didn't want to see it crash)
Dave explained that they are supposed to be like that and if you pull them out wards it stops. so when it's spinning it's gone.

I have to agree with Mattie here 100%, build it and fly it, no need for any upgrades.
I have flown all my 700's standard virtually.
The only upgrades i have on my current 700 is the rear canopy mounts are quick uk, just because i had some, and a booms support brace, just so if a boom support bolt comes out, it doesn't go through the blades.

                              yeah i agree too
stefans been flying a standard 7oo for ages, totally nailing the helicopter without issues..
its not needed really but i do think the quick uk tail is a nice addiction/upgrade and if you intend of running insane head speeds then i would say yeah get one

                              regards craig
