Yep! Went to the field in the morning, did inverted FF turn for the first time! Spent most of the time testing out 2100 headespeed on my X3. Did many stall turns trying to make them straight. I always end up tilting the aileron axis towards me so I keep needing to reset it further away from me. A random guy was amazing that the heli did not stall or that it can go upside down so he asked many questions about it
This is the second time I went to the field after setting up the X3 and sorting out issues. Both times, I did new things I have never attempted IRL because the psychological safety net is a huge help. (X3 crashes well and spirit bailout)
After my 360CFX sells on ebay, I will have money to use some proper blades on them (I use alzrc 380 atm).200SRX; Gaui X3 (Spirit, HW)

Out of curiosity, how did you end up with an X3 and a 360cfx? They're both very similar helis (ie. 6S 360mm blades) ... What's the real-life difference between them?Originally posted by felixthemaster View Post...

I ask because I almost got a 360cfx, but ended up with a 2nd hand X3 instead.Tom

Well, I first wanted to get into CP helis last september. I researched the X3 to be perfect, but once my student loans came in, and i had all the tabs open for all the parts and bits and bobs I needed, I got cold feet and went with my backup plan of the 360. Before I came into the hobby, I was too worried about even removing a screw incase I ruin it. 200 SRX taught me a bit more stuff, but the simple 200 to a 450 CP jump was too much for me. I was overwhelmed so I went for the BNF option.Originally posted by tomatwalden View PostOut of curiosity, how did you end up with an X3 and a 360cfx? This was perfect because I have always dreamed of getting a 450 size ever since i started the hobby. This purchase let me enjoy a super powerful huge (to me at the time) bird with no limitations (i.e.: my setup/build skills). The power, the noises, it was amazing. But that feeling stopped the first time I crashed. What a mess! I knew blade helis crashed poorly and spares aren't cheap, but damn! £80 first 'crash' when I was landing and it tipped over on soft grass. Servo gears, blades, fbl linkages, main gear, etc etc. I repaired it but then I crashed again, a few months later and the tail exploded all over the place, and I also ended up breaking all the parts I broke before. At this point, I gave up and didn't repair it back up. I waited for my next student loans to get another heli. I ended up with a second have mini protos which was great, but the pitch barely worked and it was jumpy. I could not figure it out so I sold it to a guy for spares. Turns out, the DFC arm screw was bent, that's all. I got myself another 360 because they are cheap and I know they work. As long as I don't crash, they are amazing.
Third and last student loans of the academic year, I didn't look to buy any helis, and just wanted to browse ebay for a small plane that i can fold up to put in my heli bag. I ended up finding the X3 for super super cheap! I paid him £100 extra for him to include the spirit and set it up for me and buy a receiver and some spares for me. Great deal
So I slurped it up and even with all the mess I had to clean up (burnt motor, all screws stripped, etc), I liked it. Cleaned it up, fell in love! Had a tip over due to the wind and i expected to replace everything in the head but turns out that I only needed a new main gear (wasn't necessary) and blades
. That's when I knew that it was perfect, so I started looking to sell the 360.
TL;DR: 360 got me into CP because it was cheap and didn't need building. Found the heli I have always regretted not building (X3) on ebay for cheap, so I got it and fell in love, and I put 360 up on ebay. I don't need two 450s!
I will miss its amazing power to weight ratio though :P

On the field at 0800, fantastic conditions. 10 minutes on the 200SRX, oh for more power, then 5 batteries through the 230S; a mixture of beginner mode and IU1. I really need to be flying alongside someone else who knows what they are doing but just not possible at the moment and stick time once a week is just not enough.

Medway Massive RC
1 flights on Goblin 700C
5 flights on Protos Max
Got to the field early to do some more testing with the G700C but the nodding is still there. Had 5 flights on the Protos but just wasn't feeling it today. Nothing on centre and nothing seemed to work how I planned. Still managed some practise.

All set for a morning at the field.
