  • Started flying at 10am this morning, light winds only, had the field all to myself!
    Good thing about that is, you can try new moves and if you stuff it, nobody saw it!
    On the downside though, pull off a new move well, nobody saw it!

    • Had 3 flights this morning and watched maj on here do some of the best flying i've seen yet. Might go to the field tonight as it's such a lovely evening!

      • Got 4 packs on my newly flybarlessed 550 this evening the weather was great. Really pleased with the result just needs some little refinements. Got to meet couple of forum members too which is always a great bonus!

        • Had 7 flights this afternoon with the 550 and logo se but for the first time in ages I came away from the field thinking what was that all about :-( i may need a break from it ?

                • Me too. Managed to get my velo down after my tail blades exploded, I was well happy its the first time I have managed to get my helicopter down with a tail failur the boom was a bit bent but that was it.

                    petrol mower is playing up. Think it needs a new spark plug. It will cut out if I use it to munch the long grass at the field. Will fix it when I get some tinkering time.

                    • It's bloody heavy & the only way i can get it to the field is if i borrow my nans little Astra. I will deffo look weird cutting it with that although a few residents may like the nostalgia of seeing such a grass cutting relik

                        • Was out last night for 3 hrs with the MCPX and 450, it was a bit blustery for me but had a great time.

                          • amazing actually found an hour and 1/2 to go flying yesterday evening after dropping my son at cubs plus weather held off!. Was wonderful and very relaxing to fly out 5 packs on the Heli and a couple on the Stryker foam plank. 4 mins a pop on the heli and can keep the Stryker alloft for 7 mins a pop with a 450 heli sized lipo 2200mah 3s but that's with plenty of gliding in between full throttle climbs / fly-bys. It would balloon the lipo with 100% throttle and get a 3 min flight otherwise.
                            Keep thinking I will sell the foam plank but it is quite nice to hammer and float around in between heli flights.
                            Also had a flight on a quad but ended abruptly when I hit zero thottle in a climb then a jab of thottle to pull a rapid turn, but one ESC failed to pick up as quick as the others and flipped the quad. Just a bent ally tube - 15 mins to cut a new one and swap out. Need idle up on the quad I think, to stop that happening again or replace the dodgy esc.

                            • just come in from my new flying location, more room, to get a little bolder and the field is surrounded by tail trees which cuts out most of the breeze, so i got the confidence going sky high, done some lazy eights and pushed my skill level to try some banked turns (kind of any way) glad to say my 450 came home in one piece... so im happy

                              • Just put 4 batteries through the 450 before work this mornig as the wind has died right down, did some nose in hovering but need to practice more in all orientations as 45° nose in is not that instinctive at the moment, in fact I find nose in easier...main thing I was trying was circles and figure of 8s turning towards me rather than the usual away. Had a couple of "moments" but managed to stay calm and sort it out although on one occasion I did get a bit close to the trees. Looking forward to some decent weather this weekend so I can go out and get some stick time in as not got much in recently.
