Fantastic progress in just a few flights...
Definitely take the training gear off - you'll be amazed at how much better it flies. Take-offs and landings are more tricky though - you have to make sure its completely stationary a few inches above the ground before dropping it down. That said, you'll find low level hovering easier without the TG affecting the ground effect.
I guess we all progress at whatever speed we're comfortable at, but I find crashes tend to happen when I get a little too confident - the "hey, this is easy" syndrome... Of course, I then find it isn't and am on the phone to Hobby Hangar for new bits!!
