You'll notice from the screenshots that the major omission appears to be the governor settings, which for an electric heli isn't that big a loss anyway. So i think we can say that when purchasing a 270 cfx you get na AR72100bx that a) has SAFE as standard b) has no governor settings and c) can only be properley configured via the studio x interface....not bad for the price!
Thanks for sharing, looks pretty standard then and good that you appear to have full control over SAFE mode. Did you switch to "bailout rescue" because you didn't want the pitch control or just to test if you could change it?

Also for parameter M (SAFE mode hovering pitch) could you look on the unit and see what colour LED it's set to? Purple is the default setting for hovering pitch (37.5% max collective), but I have mine set to blue (70%) for a more aggressive climb out during rescue. But note it will skip over this parameter if you don't have a SAFE mode with collective pitch control assigned.

    Many thanks,

    Pete

First of, it looks like you can setup the governor after all. Earlier I tried clicking on the "electric" option in the governor section of the setup menu and nothing happened....but it turns out it was my flaky touchpad not responding, so now i can select electric or nitro governor in the setup menu and the governor menu becomes active, which i assume means that you can also get the governor working via studio x.

Pete, i think you raised an interesting problem in that within studio x it states that you can change parameter M "hovering pitch" via the transmitters aileron, but the problem is that when you go into the parameter setup on the actual unit by holding down the button, the only parameter you can slelect is L "operation mode", pressing the button again just resets the unit. So unless you can change parameter M from within studio x somehow, you won't be able to change that setting with this firmware.

Also, if i change the SAFE setting to "off" within studio x, my bailout switch will not work as expected, but when you go into parameter menu on the unit by holding down the button, parameter L still shows a purple led - which in theory should be "bailout with pitch". If i change the setting again via studio x to "3d mode w/pitch" (which is what i'll be using) the swash will drive upwards when i hit the bail out switch, again as expected, but the units's own parameter L will still show as purple - so it's not reflecting the setting in studio x, even though the studio x settings work and change the units behaviour.

Why disable features from the main unit if they can still be accessed from the PC software?

That seems like some sort of compatibility issue between Studio X and the unit's firmware. Are you able to change parameter L manually directly from the unit to get the expected LED colour i.e red for "3D mode w/pitch". When you select this mode, parameter M should then become active and allow you to set the amount of collective pitch used with rescue, as per the BeastX pro user manual.

            Exactly, this seams very strange.

But if Kranker has tested and verified it then it must be the case. Sounds like even the Horizon reps don't know what the limitations are and are not.

Maybe they just forgot to disable it in the PC software

Maybe it's a scenario Blade overlooked, or maybe it was just technically difficult to lock via the software interface. But it's good news for owners if it can be fully programmed with Studio X. At least they should sell quite a few more USB dongles!

Would be really sneaky if they locked it down in the PC software with a future firmware upgrade.

Has anyone tried changing any of the locked parameters in the PC software and seeing if it actually makes any difference to the flight characteristics?

I've been playing with the setting a bit more and i now understand what's going on.....when you hold down the button on the unit to enter the parameter menu you can only select one menu point, which is L and the led will show as purple at default settings. However this setting actually alters parameter M "hovering pitch"! When moving the aileron stick the led will go from off (20% of max pitch), to purple (30%), red (50%) then blue (70%) and as you change the settings the swash plate will move up. I've tested that this works by setting parameter L Safe mode to "3D collective pitch" then setting the parameter L on the unit itself (actually parameter M) to off (20%) and then blue (70%) and when power cycling the unit each time you can see the difference in collective pitch applied between the two modes when hitting the bailout swtich on the transmitter. They sure did a strange job on this firmware.

Guys, dont want to sound rude but could we please get this thread back on its original track. I know you guys are talking about features that relate to the 270 but the OP still is no further forward with regards to finding batteries in the UK (her original intention)

Oops. Once of the reasons why I sometimes misread the title of the topic is because it doesn't show the whole title. In Google Chrome I just saw "The new Blade 270cfx -... ", skimmed though and and assumed it's a thread about the 270CFX in general.

It's early days. 6s 900 is not a common size. Apart from what was already mentioned, I would imagine Gensace will have something sooner or later. Personally I would be looking for batteries that weigh around 180g and not consider anything heavier than 200g.

I think the simple answer is there aren't any!
