These conversations always go the same way, no one here is advocating using cheap crappy gear. Taking the previous 'example' obviously a tasteless £6 McDonald rubber burger isn't the same thing as your £12 fresh juicy prime beef burger, so clearly paying more for the latter is fully justified because the two things are tangibly different. The point I'd make is that paying £12 for the McDonald's wouldn't improve it's quality one bit.
'Sometimes' it is possible to get good quality stuff at relatively low prices. This 'stuff' is sometimes the exact same 'stuff' as sold at higher prices under brand names, but by taking off the brand name and buying direct from the country of manufacture (thus missing out various 'non value adding' middle men) you can sometimes get it much cheaper.
Face facts guys, 95% of 'stuff' in this hobby is made in sweatshops in China or the far east anyway, even much of the top brand stuff. The act of sticking a brand name label on and paying twice the price in itself does not guarantee quality.

Exactly this^^^ and it's what a lot of people either don't know or refuse to accept. Almost everything in this hobby is made in sweat shops in China, and most likely by children, and regardless of whose name is on the badge, you can guarantee the manufacturer has cut every corner possible to make the product as cheaply as possible, including reducing the BOM by sourcing components from the cheapest source possible, and they're probably using the night shift to make 'clones' with a different badge. It's how China works
Just went and puchased my son a new motorbike (125cc) from a bike shop, after he's last one finally died after other faults.
The bike shop stated, the engine in it, is made under license from Suzuki.
Which tells me, it was made in the same factory as a Suzuki engine, with the badge removed and another stuck in it's place.
Then again,
Can we be sure anything isn't a fake these days lol.

Has anyone noticed how the postage is messed up at checkout also.
Parcelforce 48 = $8.09
Parcelforce 24 = $8.09
Even though the GBP in brackets states different amounts.
But I never change it to GBP currency, as paypal is never the amount the actual exchange rate is.
Yep I have noticed that to.On the good side A friend of mine has managed to recover a battery that had one cell down. He used a good old fashioned balancer which took a couple of days then recharged it .I had a couple of flights with it and its still balanced.:-)

I was about to say the same - a 4000 6S turnigy that I bought recently had a cell that dropped lower than the others on the first discharge and then recharged more slowly than the others - I got on to HK support and they agreed to replace the battery - but I have had one like this previously and it recovered, so I put a few more cycles through it and it had recovered and now charges / drains exactly like the others - got about 20 cycles on it now and it behaves perfectly (incidentally the previous one that did it was a Gens Ace that went on to work happily for a couple of years before I taco-ed it).
You may not want to risk it - but for me it was better than the hassle of sending it back (even though they had agreed to replace it).
And before the HK-bashers jump on and say "that what you always get from HK" - I'm happy to accept the minor incovenience for batteries that cost approx 50% of a Gens Ace or 40% of an Optipower - other may not be willing, you pays yer money ....
