KST are cheaper and better "QUALITY"
your logic = blown apart, twice !!!! First your logic of "RELIABILITY" and now your logic of "QUALITY"

I'll happily pay more if the product is 'better' in some tangible, measurable non-subjective way... be it made out of better materials, have more 'features', have better performance or proven to be more reliable.
Where I think I differ with bothma is i don't think simply paying more guarantees any of those things. The Align servos vs. KST is a good example, the KST are better in every tangible way i.e. better materials (aluminium vs plastic) better performance (higher torque and faster), better features (brushless and HV for KST).Goblin Kraken, SoXos Strike 7, XLPower Specter, Goblin Black Thunder T, Goblin 700 Speed, Goblin 770 Comp Carbon, Trex 700X, Kasama Dune, Henseleit TDR

quality does normally cost extra. fact
Let me put it down to a very basic level.
Would i prefer to pay £6 for a mcdonalds main meal or £12 for a freshly made juicy big burger with loads of fresh crisp lettuce tomato and swiss cheese oozing from the sides along with french fries and £3 for a pint of coke and sit in a lovely restaurant(Gustos) in alderly edge enjoying fine dining(i use this term loosely as it is not 7 star dining) with linen table cloths, linen napkins, nice people sat around enjoying themselves, attentive service one on one, lovely ambient music. Need i go on.
Hell yeah.. quality pays if you take it form a global perspective. Also, would i prefer to be driving a tinny kia or a luxurious range rover..
Well i am keeping the range rover. Yes it needs parts now and then but i know that and did when i bought it. And i am in no way a snob!!! I am the most down to earth person you would like to meet. I always invite people in for a cuppa (my fav drink) and i am in no way snobby just because i like nice things. After going to hell (hopefully heaven as i have always been a good person) and back, i really do have a new perspective on things and being "life limited" due to a spinal operation that went badly wrong, yes i do like nice things. I also appreciate the simple things in life. I sit in the summer and watch the bees going about their lives and i love it.
I could give lots of examples and i could examples of other things like the mks ds 95 servos i am going to sell as i just bought the turnigy ones for a third of the price and they are in effect the same.
In essence quality versus price is like a clock pendulum and sometimes it swings too far one way and the equation doesn't balance.
It is a non winnable argument either way. I do however agree that if i owned a £2-3000 helicopter i would only fit it with high branded equiptment but then i could crash it anyway.1x EGS, TREX 450 PRO DFC & 130X. DX9 radio. No idea what i am doing trying to fly

These conversations always go the same way, no one here is advocating using cheap crappy gear. Taking the previous 'example' obviously a tasteless £6 McDonald rubber burger isn't the same thing as your £12 fresh juicy prime beef burger, so clearly paying more for the latter is fully justified because the two things are tangibly different. The point I'd make is that paying £12 for the McDonald's wouldn't improve it's quality one bit, equally if you could buy the prime quality burger direct from the farmer's market for £6 then the cheaper price would not reduce its quality..
'Sometimes' it is possible to get good quality stuff at relatively low prices. This 'stuff' is sometimes the exact same 'stuff' as sold at higher prices under brand names, but by taking off the brand name and buying direct from the country of manufacture (thus missing out various 'non value adding' middle men) you can sometimes get it much cheaper.
Face facts guys, 95% of 'stuff' in this hobby is made in sweatshops in China or the far east anyway, even much of the top brand stuff. The act of sticking a brand name label on and paying twice the price in itself does not guarantee quality.Last edited by Grumpy; 25-10-2015, 07:03 PM.Goblin Kraken, SoXos Strike 7, XLPower Specter, Goblin Black Thunder T, Goblin 700 Speed, Goblin 770 Comp Carbon, Trex 700X, Kasama Dune, Henseleit TDR
