    Exactly...
If they replaced these 3 goons with 3 new ones, nobody would watch it and the beeb would earn "far less money" from selling it overseas, as you say.
Do you think the beeb SPEND money on this?
You gotta realise, TG doesn't COST the beeb anything, it makes them a fortune, to prop up your tiny license fee.

      really?

you think they're the best comedy actors in the uk right now?

are you living under a rock? Either that or you TG fans are more delusional than I thought.

Hahahah… you slag off Top Gear, yet you sit and watch it, along with something called Towie?!? Whatever that is…

But then sing the praises of Celebrity Big Brother???!!! You are obviously joking aren't you?!

It is all chewing gum for the eyes anyway But you cannot get on a high horse if you watch Big Brother hahaha.

Plus…. you seem to believe you are telling people something they didn't know when you talk of the scripted nature of Top Gear?!? No one thinks it is real. It is a mockumentary. To talk of comedy actors and possibly replacing those actors shows you are totally missing the point. So in all fairness you shouldn't really wasting your time venting about it. It is clearly not your thing.

It is not my thing usually either tbh. I do agree with a lot of what you say. But it just falls off my radar without directly offending me…. although i am not forced to watch it

I think much of TV today panders to the lowest common denominator audience. Cheap thrills, cheap people and cheap production. The celebrity fashion is guilty of much of it - talentless people trying to make a fast buck..Who the hell is interested in some has-been sitting in a jungle eating cockroaches? They can stay there for all I care.

And don't get me started on nobodies lounging around in a 'house' with 1000 cameras following their every move. Yawn bloody yawn.

And, heavens forbid mentioning jeremy Kyle and his "stars". God help civilisation.

What really pees me off is milking a good idea to death. We now have endless cookery programmes, quiz shows, naff 'Talent' shows, Judge my Hotel/House/Cooking, Relocate to wherever.......etc etc etc

No doubt that TG makes mega money for the Beeb and I'm buggered if I can think of how they could change it and not lose a massive audience.

I seldom watch it but I did endure it this time just to see them get into a very dodgy mess.

Come me on people WAKE UP!!!!!!
I think we get t the root of the issue right here. . . Something gives me the impression that you are perhaps in a situation where you are wanting to scream at your family who, it seems, are fully taken in by the facile scripting and poor continuity of the said entertainment programme but due to obvious social restrictions (nobody should scream abuse at their family IMO) you are venting here instead.
I find myself doing a similar thing with BGT when it's on. It pains me to know that anyone I know and care about watches that evil, manipulative sh!te and supports that bumhole Cowell through another awful series of exploitative nonsense.
The problem is, though, that you are in a strange place complaining about such stuff, as it looks a little like the situations you see where people vehemently deny magicians on youtube videos - So strongly do they disagree, deny, attempt to belittle what they saw, that it makes one wonder if they are struggling to discern between reality and fiction themselves. . .

As regards 'getting better comedy actors' - clearly they are on a great thing with the current mix of hosts - I'm sure if the show was suffering, they would look at changing the format and the actors, but (unfortunately, if you like variety) the general masses resent change, and would rather stick with simple, familiar formulae for entertainment. I guess the people you share a television with fit that mould in terms of television viewing.

A simple solution for me is when my partner wants to watch BGT, I go sim (read a book, juggle, throw darts etc) instead!

Funnily enough that was the only bit that was at all engaging. Once they went "off script" it went all "Blair Witch" shakey hand held shots, panicky voices over the two-ways give us a few minutes of suspense, exactly what I want from that sort of programme.
And at last some comedy! What did make me laugh was that three "Heroes" who would like us to believe they live their on screen lives in such peril, driving poorly maintained cars way too fast on substandard mountain roads inches from sheer drops, accross rickety bridges lost in live war zones, harsh deserts and surrounded by man eating wild animals were cowering in their hotel room cause some blokes had threatened to throw eggs at their cars. Even though they had their own security and were being protected by the police they didn't have the balls to face the mob with the rest of the crew, instead they threw them to the lions and sat around drinking wine and waited to be spirited out by the National Guard.

Was that funny or just ironic?

                        What? Are you serious?

Clarkson saying "Beavers like hard wood" was side splitting comedy genius!

I can't imagine how they're going to top that next year! Oh wait, they won't, they'll just write it into the adventure!

There was a time when I used to really look forward to watching it, but these days its no more than a pile of boring old repetitive crap..... It's time for some radical new ideas for TG, or scrap it and bring on a whole new concept in the" car based show"

                              Watching Top Gear is optional.

Gobbing off a load of unnecessary opinions on a web forum is also optional.

If you did't like it, why bother to comment?

                                Hey all.

I thought the first half wasn't as good, but the second much better.

I also felt the Argentineans didn't make a good name for themselves in all honesty.
