the problem imho is the the design. if we look at how a normal thrusted tail works there are 2 radial bearings AND a thrust bearing in there. it is like this for a reason, thrust bearings are not designed for side loads but align are asking them to do it in this application. i don't know why they done this as there is room to put in another radial with the thrust bearing no problem if they extend the hub threads up 4mm. it is still not close to hitting the tail blades....you watch this space, someone will make a tail like this sooner or later.
ofcourse what i done has other problems, i'm asking radials to take lateral loads which they are not designed for either, but because the wag was due to excess play in the grips this fixes it and the tail is superb now.....raptors ran for years with a double radial with little problems altough a few did throw a blade. i feel the forces at this size of tail will not be a problem but time will tell. IF someone makes a proper hub (you listening quk!!!) all they need to do is add 4mm to the length then the 500 will have THE proper tail. i should add a minimal tolerance setup should be fine with the thrusted one only but to date align do not seem capable of this.
cheers
