Ive only been half interested for over 5 years now.... I dabble but soon loose interest again suppose thats what happens when youve been doing it 15 years plus....need to find that spark again but ive been looking for years now with no luck lol, i think mine is down to many things though mainly not having a heli club that close and having no one to fly with without traveling

Im the same, for about the last year i have had a massive drop in interest in helis and certainly didnt spend anything on them, but since June i have had a surge of interest again purchasing 3 new and one used heli since then, funny thing is i am in no hurry to get any of them flying.
Could just as easily lose interest again especially over the winter,so yes my commitment to the hobby, and what i want to do with the hobby changes, the only thing that has never changed is i dont use a Sim,good God how mind knumbingly boring and have no urge to progress my flying ability.Last edited by ChrisB; 13-08-2013, 11:04 PM.

Re: Not as keen as I used to be
We all have periods where we lose interest a bit but normally it's only for a short time. Flying with other people can be great and is another side of the hobby that I really enjoy. Flying on my own all the time would be boring.
Get yourself along to the RCHA flyin as well, im sure that will give you some motivation to get going again.TREX 700E DFC SK540

Go and get yourself a new heli, it works for me ! I get bored very quickly with the same heli unless it flies really well and I have owned a few to say the least. I'm currently toying again with changing my fleet around and trying some new ones as there's plenty to choose from ! Also working out new moves helps, try practising all the stuff you don't like doing etc that should break the boredom.

With work and family stuff, I don't really get the opportunity to go off to a club for the afternoon. I tend to steal a quick fly when I can. There's a park area right behind where I live which is why I'm fairly limited as to size of heli for obvious safety reasons. Then there's the cost of a big 'un. Not sure I can justify £5-600 on a heli at the moment.Originally posted by Sheldrake View PostHi Bob,
where do you fly? I find that being in a club keeps me motivated.

??????????
We don't see them now because the cretinous mods in their infinite (infinitely small) wisdom have hidden them from the masses in case any of us dare to think about anything other than stupid 3D flip-flaps with a silly plastic toy heli...
Tyere is actually more to life than flirro-pips, and I wanna see what it tastes like...

Understand about work and family it is hard trying to get a balance! But if you get a chance check out our Facebook page you will see there is nearly always someone at the club we are open everyday flying from 9-9.
Many people turn up on a Wednesday night about 5.30 straight from work for a fly and a pizza!
Hope you find a solution soon just remember this hobby does not fully let you go (in the last year there have been many who have sold up and they are all back lynx and rcslopesurfer etc).Central Model Heli Club. #keeprchelisalive

Right guys, I have had a think about your comments, thank you and I seem to have turned a corner, I've decided to sell up all my gear, have a break and get my credit card bill cleared and get some money together, then I'm going to stop pi$$ing about and playing at it and get myself a Goblin 500 a DX9 and a Trex 450L when it comes out. I figure if I haven't crashed my 300X since May, I'm just about ready for something proper!!

Not as keen as I used to be
I haven't touched a helicopter for a year and haven't flown in 18 months. Just lost all interest tbh. I bought a brand new N2 and sold it inflows ten months later. Got a plane and my radio gear left but think I'm going to sell that as well because I have zero interest at all anymore

Am roughly the same amount of time Del
. I gave up as I been very ill and was not getting the time in at the field I wanted to and also the family was taking a second fiddle to my flying. I kept quite a bit of my heli stuff just in case I decide to take it up again. Upside is the wifes alot happier with me lol. As to the OP I think most of us have been through the ups and downs and TBH if it was not for some of the people in the hobby I would have given up alot sooner. You could always put your stuff away and come back in a few months and see if you still want to sell up so dont do anything without thinking about it first
Do what ever makes you happy at the end of the day.
