  • Not as keen as I used to be

Don't know if its just me, but I seem to be going through phases of disinterest with Helis. Got the lawn mowed yesterday as weather shows less wind today, but looking at it there's a bit of a breeze, but don't know if I can be ar$ed!

Keep thinking I might sack it all off (again) but I know I'll end up buying another in a few months time and costing myself hundreds of pounds (again).

Anyone else feel (or felt) like this, or am I just being mardy?

I think everyone goes through stages like this in any hobby. At the end of the day, you gotta do what you enjoy.

Its difficult though, I keep going back to one of my other hobbies, I get fed up with it, then I get the need to go back again. (must be in my blood!), but that don't cost me thousands each time I go back.

lol - must be you mate ... I actually look outside, see the breeze and all I think off is big a$$ loops with the 700 have been flying wings lately just to have a little relaxed balance to it but still wouldn't want to miss flying the helis or messing about with the chaps at the clubs ...

in regards of your equipment - well the 300 is probably not the best for windy conditions - go bigger and enjoy the real world

I agree with Waveydavey here but get a better quality helicopter than those you have at the moment. I am a bit biased but I would recommend an Align 450 or larger.

I've just had a 10 month break. I could have flown but I left them alone to concentrate on other things & I didn't miss it or have the urge to fly until that Klangkarussel trak played on radio 1 & I couldn't get Timo's Logo 700 flight in the snow out of my head . Now i'm back with a vengeance & going fbl.

Not as keen as I used to be

I go in and out of interest...

I have a few aspects of this hobby - heli's, planes, FPV - and I go off all of them from time to time.

Just storage charge your lipos, put it all away and go do something else. Come back when you want. Selling is a mistake unless a) you're looking for an excuse to upgrade when you come back, or b) you're sure you're done for good.
Ridding the world of Helis, one crash at a time....

                            Hi Bob,
where do you fly? I find that being in a club keeps me motivated. Even as a newbie there is always someone else at a similar stage at the field to compare experience with, chat about things and just enjoy being away from work.
as others have said it is also worth considering bigger so that you can handle the British weather more effectively!
why not pop down to LMAC and see what you think, we are a very friendly club and not too far from you, we already have a couple of members from Loughborough area too?

I too have questioned myself lately but there's no way I'm packing in, main reason for me I think is that there's not many members at our club anymore that fly helis so I'm not getting pushed to improve. 3 of my mates all have sold up and got into bikes/quads, we all used to want to beat each other's flying but that's now gone. I love this hobby but its not the same when there's no competition. I love building and tinkering, hence my love affair with nitro still!! BUT not feeling it in the air at the moment and not getting the stick time due to business commitments doesn't help. Think I need to change my glow plug and get that bright glow inside again!
