Sorry about the crash - especially after the raptor. However, at least it didn't go in due to a mechanical failure - those are the worst ones. My 600 tipped over a few weeks ago - £170 to fix that.
I agree with Paul though - it is not a good idea to learn on a 600. I would still consider myself as a beginner, so I use my smaller helis for learning and am very careful with my 600 - only do slow flights with a few flips with that. Whereas with my smaller helis I can (try to
) throw them around and learn new things with them and know that if I make a mistake it will usually cost less than £20. Also lipos are much cheaper meaning you can progress at a much faster rate.

I think if you question your future in the hobby following the first repair on the Logo then sadly this hobby ain't for you Nitros. It's never nice when you stand over a model wondering what happened and counting the cost. But, it's part of the learning process I'm afraid, at least it is for some of us. I thought the crash cost of a Logo was reasonable, or so I'm told. My 600 has been in so many times I reckon I could rebuild it in the dark with a blindfold on. Sometimes it hurts because it's only been back in the air for a few minutes, sometimes I laugh my socks off because I've dumb thumbed it. Sometimes I get away with a couple of quid repair others are gut wretchingly expensive.
I still love the hobby though and this does nothing but spur me on to try harder to learn the maneouvre I dumb thumbed in the first place. Set yourself goals and join a club if you haven't already, don't spend anymore money on another model use it to repair and buy some spares for your 600, much more stable and easier to fly than a 450 stamp on.

QFT. The main trouble is to know when one is ready to try to maneuver for real after having it mastered it on the simulator. I've observed lots of people are a little bit too optimistic and think that 2 hours for pirouetting loop is enoughOriginally posted by trillian View PostAs a few have said, and I had said as well a while back, spend some time on the sim and then don't try anything for real that you haven't got down 200% on the sim first. So if you are only hovering safely on the sim without crashing, don't exceed that comfort zone in real life as it will just end in a crash and needless expense of money, time and stress.
.
Only try in real if you can consistently do it on simulator, meaning, you wake up at 7 am, hungover, and you can do it on the sim 10 times in the row with 15 mph crosswind.

the cost is not much is 150 posted without cano, what i pi... off is that i lost the swashplate which is more the 50 quid alone, is it normal that the main shaft break in half?Originally posted by waveydavey View PostI think if you question your future in the hobby following the first repair on the Logo then sadly this hobby ain't for you Nitros. IMO, the crash cost of a Logo isn't reasonable.
Yes, the airframe has minimal part count, but those parts are bloody expensive. I was always puzzled why my Logo 400 cost £100 to repair when there was so little damage.
I have been in the same position when I had the Srimok. You can't enjoy flying something when you are always thinking "this going to cost ££ if I stuff it in", and if you aren't enjoying it; what's the point.
Sim and a 500, you can't go wrong.Last edited by sacko; 16-05-2012, 07:13 PM.

Have a look on ChopperAddicts Radio Controlled Helicopters Web Site site, he has got loads of info on learning to fly, repair, set Tx up etc. and a natty "flying" aid to make. It certainly helped me get hovering down, without the bloody thing getting away from me. If nothing else, it gives you the confidence to get the heli off the floor, the biggest mental block for us noobs. Don't forget to put it on a board, or solid ground and not the grass!! You can get the heli up and tight on the guide strings and then let off slowly, so you can practice hovering unaided
