More or less, you will have to bind the rx to the tx though, but then should be ok, also you will need to find out if any channels need to be reversed.
If I were starting off again and going down the Futaba route I would be getting the 8fg, purely from the point of view of buying once and not wanting to upgrade later.
I went down the Spektrum route and have a dx6i, the advantage being there are loads of bnf models ( helis & planks ) that work with it; but my next purchase will be the 8fg.

Yea the futaba radios are all good and work brilliant i fly on them, but i have just bought a spektrum dx 7 for indoor flying you just bind it to the likes of the mcpx and off you go and fly , as darwill says the futaba 8fg is a great choice that you will never out grow , but it costs a bit more , it just a matter of how far do yo want to take your flying

hmm the futaba 8fg is too rich for my blood... so i might stick with the T6J plan..but i do agree about buying the best you can at the start.. but i doubt her indoors would agree.. lol.. cheers rob

i just wasted £80 in a rubbish agusta scale body kit... cheapo junk..took it off..

If you really want to go down the Futaba route there is a way to get a very functional radio set up on the cheap: you could get a Turnigy 9x with a FRsky rf module but it's quite complex to set up.
If you decide to go with the 6 channel the look for the FRsky rx's they cost a lot less and for your needs are well up to it - also you might look at the cost of the 8fg with FRsky rx as opposed to the 6 channel with Futaba rx - I think you will be surprised.

Go mode 2, mode 1 is for subversives and deviants.

Watch the T6J its got a limited compatibility ..... Its not the same type of modulation as the rest of the futaba tx's so you will be stuck with a limited range of rx units you can use...

+1 for that, I forgot it's not the same modulation as most of the Futaba stuff, so FRsky rx's aint compatible; go for the 6ex if it has to be a 6 channel.
