Gram, I would get to the LHS & try them all for feel & even see if they will let you power them up to get a feel for the different menu's & settings then make your decision from there.
Everyone has their own opinion on which one to get (like me & the Aurora) but you can only make the decision after playing with them.
At the end of the day the LHS should help you in allowing you to try them (my LHS did)
I think that's the best way you can resolve your dilemma

thanks dan, i did have a look at a futaba, 8fg, very nice too, i kinda let myself get drawn away from that to the aurora tho, looks simple enough to program, the added benefit of being future proof isn't really a bonus to me yet but that may come in the future. I just don't want to get lumbered with something that i'll eventually need to change again like the t6j, don't get me wrong cos it's a good radio but it has limits, the guy in the shop admitted as much when i spoke about upgrading, shame they didn't say when i first went in about a new tx, ho hum ...Originally posted by danch View PostGram, I would get to the LHS & try them all for feel & even see if they will let you power them up to get a feel for the different menu's & settings then make your decision from there.

I get were your coming from & I went in, read reviews about the available Tx's when I purchased last year & the Aurora fitted the bill, the DX6/7 menu's I jet didn't get on with and found them counter-intuitive
At the end of the day it's what Tx your comfortable with in the hands & fits the bill menu wise & support wise.
Good hunting

I really like the Aurora a guy at our club uses one and it has many good features. I had been thinking about a new tx as my dx7 is nearly on its third birthday and is feeling a little tired.
I like the look of the new Futaba 8fg BUT I don't have the best luck in the world so it will need repairing at ripmax huge repair cost so that's out.
So that narrows it down to spectrum or Jr and at the minute the dx8 is in limbo with good and bad the Jr xg8 only uses dsmx so I'm afraid I will be sending my trusty bullet proof dx7 back to the excelent horizon and asking them to bling it up for me.
With the dx7 you won't go wrong. I know at least 4 people who have gone back to the dx7 because it WORKS.
What ever you choose will work for you and will get you flying with piece of mind and I believe pheonix sim plugs straight in to the aurora.

Ian, Don't discount the 8FG quickly - its a robust set and 14 channels. Its also upgradeable by free firmware from Futaba and of course Futaba FAAST is the most reliable system in terms of radio transmission.

I've had the Aurora 9 for over 6 months, it was my first TX. I'm so happy with it too. Really intuitive programming for a newb. Love the telemetry. With a bit of SIMPLE soldering I have real time telemetry of my flight battery voltage without buying extra sensors (it's built into optima 7 and above).
Any questions just shout mate. There is still so much I haven't used yet on here, but if I can help I'd be glad to.
