What makes you think you need more than 6 channels for nitro?
    channel numbers are arbitary-

    1 throttle servo
    2. elevator
    3 aileron
    4 rudder
    5 gyro gain (gear)
    6 Pitch (Aux)
    Cheers n beers

I bought the Aurora 9 as my first Tx & have not looked back, great Tx, Easy to program & quite intuitive, I have also bought the HP-22 USB updater which can update your Tx & Rx.

I have now had it about 18 months & can quite happily say I would not swap it with any other Tx

the freya i'm looking at has a guv'nor, also thinking about engine temp sensor, don't know if that needs another channel but how else would it send the info? the main thing is upgrading to a decent t/x. tony at my local raves about them, i had a gander at one today and i'm quite impressed.

i wanted to get the aurora 9 at first but i thought it looked big for my hands everytime i went to the model shop to look at it behind glass...plus i didn't like the wire hanging out from the aerial
so i bought a DX8 instead. the club i just joined has a few aurora 9's and i held one last weekend and DAMN! it fits my small hands perfectly and it's built really well!!! it feels really nice and the wire is not even a problem! if i was to get another transmitter... i definitely would get one!

HiTec do the telemetry kit all in for £99.99 from fast-lad which includes :

                  * Sensor Station (HTS-SS) - collects all data from each sensor, sending it back to your transmitter via the Optima 7 or Optima 9 omnidirectional receivers
                  * Optical RPM Sensor (HTS-ORPM) - provides optical RPM information
                  * Magnetic RPM Sensor (HTS-MRPM) - provides RPM information using a magnetic sensor
                  * Temperature Sensor (HTS-TEMP) - measures temperatures from -40 to 392 degrees Fahrenheit
                  * Fuel Level Sensor (HTS-FUEL) - provides an accurate 5-step reading of your remaining fuel level when simply attached to the outside of the fuel tank
                  * GPS Sensor (HTS-GPS) - displays constant directional information such as: speed, altitude, latitude and longitude

I love the adjustable gimbal tension & stick length, really is a good unit for configurability.

I'd stay more main stream If I were you. The Aurora is a cheap set for what it is but you'll find better quality and more support in the bigger names.

                        Mark,
Why jump on the Futaba & Spektrum bandwagon if we all did that we'd all be flying Align , support I have had when I broke a switch and they replaced it f.o.c so far I class that up there with Horizon & the quality is better than the DX6 & DX7 that my son has.

This Tx is starting to grow in popularity sure to the recent drop in price, I tried a few Tx's when buying & for me this fitted the bill function & feel wise.

I have now had mine nearer 15 months without issue, updated well both times, Rx updates went well & apart from me braking a switch which was fixed foc I have had zero issue...

                        Cheers

JR As well - because its posted in the beginners section and therefore the chances are that Gram is going to be asking for more help later. He'll be mighty disappointed when very few expert flyers can answer his questions because he started with a less popular set. Its always best to buy the best set you can afford since it saves money later but I'm not convinced he's making the best choice to get started.
