  • Have I broke it already?

Hi all, just got a Spirit CX V from Century UK

1st of all it doesn`t want to "boot up" as the manual says.
Had to turn on controller then connect battery then flick the controller off & on again then fly.

Just dropped it from about 6" and now the right hand stick doesn`t work on the left and right?

    Any ideas?

Hopefully not broke my 1st one already...

The boot up issue sounds iffy to me.
The other issue sounds like a servo is broken?
EDIT: Just realised this is the contra heli - so I guess it's possible that there is a problem with the transmitter?

    Cheers,

sounds like a servo or the esc to me, i am very surprised if that is the case though, they are very strong and take a lot of banging around.the way you say you boot her up don't quite sound right to me, so just try this
put the controller on the floor next to the copter adjust the 2 trims on the bottom to the central position and the ones on the side right down, now make sure the left stick is right down and the right stick is in the midddle position, turn on the controller and then plug in the batery of the heli don't touch the controller until its binded
      good luck

So you have no left/right cyclic is that what you're trying to say?

Rob, by the looks of it, it's similar to the way the MSR works but contra (eg. fixed pitch, two servos front for cyclic roll and pitch) and has a tail driven from the main shaft either via belt or torque tube. Most likely torque given the size.

Check that both the front servos are moving when giving a right stick forward/back and left/right movement. If one of them isn't moving at all then you've busted a servo.

Not sure here but I think he's talking about dropping the tx and the right hand stick not working now?

It was the heli that dropped about 6 inches onto coffee table! Just tried again but the red light doesn`t stop flashing however long I wait. Works if turn on tx then plug in battery after a few seconds. But although it turns left and right (on the left stick) it still wont go L & R on the Right stick, no servo movement.

If it was in flight and the blades clipped the table (or any other object) while descending or in a hover then this could of caused you to damage the servos. Otherwise if it landed on the skids while dropping 6inches rapidly then I would of doubt this would of damaged anything at all besides possibly the skids.

Sounds like it is binding each time you switch on. You should put on the tx then the heli.

Ok check the servo to rx connection to make sure all is connected. Also try another servo on that channel

This (like lots of Century UK stuff) looks like a rebadged Walkera heli.

The Walkera stuff "rebinds" (pairs receiver and transmitter) every time you switch on, but you do have a very small window of time in which to power up the heli; the heli will only bind to the transmitter while the transmitter battery lights are flashing. Sometimes I've found it more reliable to plug in the heli, then quickly turn on the transmitter, but I don't think either way around is foolproof.

ok cheers people, it seems like what I was doing as regards turning it on according to the manual wa wrong, so plugged in as lights flashed and it works, apart from the mentioned problem or the aileron L&R still not working.

Not sure but from what I have read then forest row is the best place to take it when they open tues. unless anyone is near Gatwick?

Andy, the only place I know in Forest Row is Sussex Helis, if so then they are a good place to take it to. Not sure if Dennis has that much experience with Century Products but I'm sure he'll figure out what he problem is.

Mike haven't heard many good things about SMC to be honest, hence why I buy from Sussex or visit them.
