Sounds like my pain mate. I clipped the heli when indoors testing hover on some clothing which I think weakened my servos. Took it out today and was fine for a few tests and then the elevator servo went. If the Storm servos are as crap as the Blade400 servos then you want to change them to the Hitec 5065mg. I tried the Acerlabs but wasn't overly impressed.

Next day? I'd been talking to Dennis about a 450 for a week and we were waiting on the Spektrum DX6i to be delivered to him. On the 23rd in the arvo they were delivered and he called me to let me know. I sent him my billing details and at the end of the day, in pouring rain/hail, on route to his holiday destination he dropped them off to me. I don't think you'd find many stores like that.

Hitec 5065mg is very pricey compared to the £8.99 servo i got today do they last very well? i can see that a bulet proof servo would be a major plus

£8.99 servo sounds like an Acerlab DG12MG from Avo
Well that is how much they're selling them for I paid about £13 when I bought mine. They're a budget metal geared servo and are an alright upgrade for the B400 but from what I've been told they're not that accurate. Not sure how important accuracy is when being a numpty but I guess it is very important when performing precise 3D moves.

Polycarbonate (or the like) gears are very easy to strip but as you'll learn with this rc hobby is that if the gears give/break then it means another part hasn't worn the brunt of the damage. If you upgrade the servos to metal gear the gears won't break but you'll end up with something like the the pushrods bending.

Just as an example I used Trex450 feathering spindles on my Blade400 at one stage. Which are amazing strong compared to the stock B400 ones. When I crashed the spindle didn't bend but I ended up breaking the blade grips. Usually my grips remain intact and I end up with a bent spindle.

if sussex heli's is close to you , i would go inthere tomorrow explain your new to the hobby and ask there advice, it might be something small and stupid, i done that in my local shop when i first started, they helped me out several times then, they have given me some good advice and helped set up my first heli even though they couldn't supply the parts. when i was ready to get another i went to them first and so repaid the time they spent with me, hope that makes sense

I had a similar problem with mine and have dropped in from a fair height when I first got it- high enough for the front motor to be knocked out of alignment and need repostioning.

My point is that I have had a few crashes on a a hard floor and not really suffered any functional damage. I did however have a couple of binding problems with control sticks not working.

I am only just starting in this so am no expert, but what worked for me was rebinding the remote and heli the "special" way.

Turn on transmitter, then plug in helo battery- as soon as you get a solid light on the RC control board on the heli, push the right hand stick all the way to the left or right ( while the handset light is still flashing) and it will reset the binding.

It worked twice for me, so may be worth a try.

BTW- every start up now is plug in battery then turn on RC unit- not had any problems since.

I am now in the phase of having more confidence and control, so flying in a more "interesting" way, so getting some slightly heavier crashes involving scenery :P
The Spirit seems pretty robust so far, but the spares list is increasing.

                          Happy flying

OK I went to worthing and they took a servo out of a display model but too busy to fit it, I got home and the screw was so small that I couldn`t get it in.

(that was after going to spec-savers)!

Went to forest row and Dennis fitted it for me! Excellent place. bought pheonix flight sim but my controller wouldn`t work with it! So got another one and dennis tested it all. Think I will definately get next heli from there as all the models he sells he will have replacement bits for which is a big PLUS, also very helpful which is a BIG PLUS when you are new to a hobby, break it and want to PLAY NOW!!!!!!

Yep, never had bad service with Sussex Helis. Dennis and Jan do a top job and have had good customer service from them. They even delivered stuff to me on route to their Christmas Holiday location
