    Hi there pilots!!

My names Riz and im from London, 25 years old, i have always been fasinated by rc heli's but never before had the chance to get one, until i strangely got married lol.

Anyway, i am a complete novice in this field, i recently bought myself a simple toyish syma alloy shark 3 channel for 30 quid, its quite fun to fly and basic, looks good too. I also bought a syma chinook micro from the same store the same day, which is also a 3 channel.

I'm having fun flying these, but the purpose is to grasp the basics then move onto something with more variation. Something like the honeybee. I am on a budget though would never think about spending more the £150 tops. Thats the plan for the summer!!

For now though the choppers i have are good enough for indoor use. I was wondering if you guys could give me any tips on how far i could push these choppers, i know there only 3 ch, but still!

Anyway i could protect the larger of the two the shark from destroying it against the wall?

thanks, and sorry for going on, riz

    Welcome to the forum...

Tbh, you're probably not going to do much more with these helis. They're really designed as an indoor beginners/anybody can fly type.

You could probably search on youtube for any vids on these type of helis, and what ppl do with them. ie modding them to fly faster etc

Don't really know much about the honeybee. but there looks as though there are quite some variations. All of which though, are probably at least 4 channel, and going to be a lot harder to fly than the ones which you are used to at the moment.

If you are serious into getting a bigger heli, and to fly outdoors, a simulator is probably going to be a very good investment, so would really budget for one, and you may need a suitable transmitter to use with it.

      Hi welcome!
Second what Andy said there. If you are serious into getting bigger heli for summer, a decent transmitter and flight sim like phoenix are better in the long run. Else you can stretch your budget a bit more by getting the Blade msr(fixed pitch like honey bee) and a dx6i for practising.

        Hi riz,
I know your dying to get your hands on a heli, but jumping straight in with something like the honeybee would be a big mistake imho. I did something very similar and bought a cheap fixed pitch heli after having flown a few contra rotators for a bit. What a waste of money that was

Take the advise of buying the Phoenix simulator and a good radio like the dx6i to begin with. This is money well spent

agree with tiddler and a £159 well spent, that will do you until we get decent weather again. Also will be easily sellable again if you decide this hobby isnt for you after all.

agree 100% phoenix and dx6i and as much sim time as possable.i like to go for minimum of hour a day on sim. Even with this sim time i am still only just hovering with training gear.

with all the above. In jan this year I brought a honeybee fp heli as my first heli and tried to fly it I did ok after my tenth crash and rebuild. I brought the Phoenix sim and spent about a an hour a day on it and but did not fly the honeybee fp again as I brought the Blade 400. The Blade was my first REAL heli that had main rotor and tail rotor pitch control.

As the nights are drawing in now get the sim and tx and practice. Trust us I didnt really listen at first what a mistake

Just remember that the DX6i and sim package doesn't come with a receiver.

I would recommend like other people the Phoenix sim with either the DX6 or DX7 transmitters.
I use the Phoenix and also use my DX7 with my mCX and mSR.

                          Whatever you choose, good luck.

thanks alot for the comments guys, i think i would end up crashing a heli if i bought 1, and it would be devastating especially as i dont know how to repair 1.

                            whats a pheonix sim? and a dx6i?

would i be correct in guessing its a simulator or some sort and joystick??

                              Welcome to RCHA.

Phoenix sim is a simulator - best in the market ATM. It costs £80. google it for more info. You can buy it from Midland heli or Fast -Lads - both advertise here.
DX6i is the transmitter - this works well with Phoenix sim and the same transmitter (Tx) you will be able to use for flying any heli that you buy. So it is a good way to get to know your Tx. It cost @£70.

This Tx comes in two modes - mode 1 and 2. More info I'll post later.

                              Hope this helps.
                              Cheers
