Just to put my twopennies worth in, as a learner myself, only 1 year ago i got a walkera 4#3b heli for Xmas after having a few 3 channel contras. Having spent 6 months and lets face if about £300 in spares still could not fly. Just about to give up when i got a secondhand blade 400 with dX6i (just called in to shop for more spares and you know right place right time).Got a simulator lead and FMS from net. Played on simulator for about month was sure i was ready for blade400, WRONG!! £60ish later blade back together.
Back to forums for help and somebody said try MSR if you want to fly something real and not on screen. So i did, well what a revelation it did what i expected in real life and when my ability runs out (often does) let go of cyclic and it goes into a hover all by itself. Just joined a club as now can just about do slow figure of 8s with blade400 now and ready to learn more!!!
I understand the best way to learn is with a good Sim(got Phoenix now) but not everybody wants to fly a screen.
good luck and hope santa brings you joy
New to this and wish i could fly

Well my MD530 has the EXP canopy so looks like most other 400/450 pod & Boom. If you want a CP helicopter of that size, one way or another you are going to have to pay that kind of money. Second hand will save some dosh. The TT MD530 (in whatever guise) is a brilliant first CP machine. It is verasatile, and very tough, and genarally easy to repair.
