    Hello people,

I am from Bourne in South Lincolnshire. I am planning on purchasing a heli and learning to fly one.

I have RC nitro cars and have a couple of IC planes (but never flew them) and want some guidance on a heli.

Price is not an issue, although I don't want to kill the bank, but I want something good that will get me going and maybe add on a scale shell to it later on to make it look the biz.

I am favouring IC rather than electric as I will be flying outdoors, not indoors.

I am going down the heli route as I have built a couple of planes, but never flown them yet, it's the speed and height thing to get the up in the air first that worries me.

Any local heli people want to get together and give me some clues and helis to look at would be good.

    Thanks guys.

    Rich.

First thing to do is buy a SIM fo rthe PC (http://www.phoenix-sim.com/), then do the research while learning.
    Clones are bad

    .... that includes Align ones

Of course you could just bypass this and get a Knight 50 and fit it out with Kokam packs but if you get a Sim Phoenix is the only one worth the time of day the rest are rubbish

Can you control the sim software from the PC (keyboard, Joystick or mouse) or do you need a transmitter. I have a Skysports 6 for the plane, not sure if it will work as a heli controller.

You use your own transmitter and you'll get a USB adapter lead, you should be ok with yours.

Wicked, thanks for the quick replies.

Any ideas on a good chopper then and anyone local to Bourne in Lincs to let me have a look at some.

Plenty of opinions here on the best heli, I'll steer clear, but have a chat and see what people are flying at your local club.

Have a look at http://www.bmfa.org/clubs/clist.php for your nearest one.

If you ask Disc nicely, it may be possible for you to take your planks along and try them on a buddy lead...planks are far easier to fly than helis whatever you currently think

By planks I presume you mean planes !!

I have a high wing trainer I built last year, never been off the ground yet, and a hobbyzone elec thingy.
