The 50 is more stable machine but then it costs in other ways.Originally posted by rwalters View PostLooks like a nice piece of kit, I think personally I am going to buy a new kit mainly so that I can built it (with your help of course
) and learn how it works and goes together.
Would something large that a 30 be better, a 50 maybe ?
I would say 50 consider 2 machines:
Raptor 50 (279ish) Or Knight 50 Sport (181ish)
Both good machines solid stable and both have good spares supply, you won't go far with either machine but it will cost you around 700+ with everything to set a new machine up.

Disc,
Did you mean "you won't go far wrong with either machine" ?

Raptor 50 you can get a Defender body for it from Thunder Tiger.Originally posted by rwalters View PostCan you get upgrades and scale shells for the Raptor and Knight 50's ?
Knight I don't know of any scale bodys yet. But I would of thought some
would fit by the looks of the mechanics. Although Ade may freeze with the thought of a Knight going into a scale body

Well The Knight 50 Sport is 181-189ish pounds with CCPM head.Originally posted by rwalters View PostOut of the Knight and Raptor, which is the best one ?
Raptor 50 titan's are about 269-279 ish.
So Far the Knight seems on par at least with Raptors for performance and the parts are cheap for the Knight although suppliers are more limited for the Knight. I use Skyline now for most of my helicopter parts be it Raptor or Knight there generally next day anyway. But that 90 pound saving is x3 3152 digi servos for it and a rx battery pack for a Knight!
I don't know the Knight sport very well but a Club member has one i'll see if he will post his thoughts on it.

I must admit my nitro car is a Thunder Tiger and I have been pleased with it so far and parts have been easy to get hold of, either online or through the model centre in Peterborough.
The Raptor, although more expensive looks like it is easier to get the spares for and upgrades later on. I may look into the Raptor 50 in more detail and wait until a bargain one turns up in a sale somewhere.
Thanks Disc for your good advice again.

Please do not get caught up in the world of BLING... if a Kit requires upgrades then its not so good. I consider upgrading a machine a bad idea buy it once buy right. The biggy for the Knight is the CCPM head and price.Originally posted by rwalters View PostI must admit my nitro car is a Thunder Tiger and I have been pleased with it so far and parts have been easy to get hold of, either online or through the model centre in Peterborough.

Don't get me wrong Knight spares are not a problem just that places having them in stock is not as many as the raptors known raptor spares to be an issue before as well.

I appreciate what you are saying, but like the TT cars, there are lots of upgrade bit your can buy later to say strenthen things, make things lighter, that sort of stuff. I am not talking about making it look pretty, that would be what the scale shell would be for at a later date.Originally posted by Disc View PostPlease do not get caught up in the world of BLING... if a Kit requires upgrades then its not so good. Basically what I will be looking for would be the best 50 helicopter that I can later on, add a good scale body to it once I have stopped crashing it

Ah my advice is get the Knight learn to fly it abuse it.Originally posted by rwalters View PostI appreciate what you are saying, but like the TT cars, there are lots of upgrade bit your can buy later to say strenthen things, make things lighter, that sort of stuff. Then when your ready buy another machine with a sole purpose of a scale build.
The Raptor or Knight do not have enough Scale body options at the moment so learn to fly one then look at the diffrent scale ones out there.

Would you recommend then the Knight over the Raptor, if so, why ? Just out of interest..Originally posted by Disc View PostAh my advice is get the Knight learn to fly it abuse it.

Cheaper than the Raptor overall and running costs.
You sound like you will goto scale so it will suit for the task of you learning to fly very well.
You will probably end up buying a diffrent model to scale build as I said neither have many body options at this time so Knight would be a good option.

Ok, thanks for the info, very informative and helpful. Are you out at the club field next Saturday, would love to come down.Originally posted by Disc View PostCheaper than the Raptor overall and running costs.

Also looks like the Phoenix Sim I ordered has the Knight 50 in it too, so that will be good.
