Does anyone have a link to a site or have information themselves on how a helicopter works and how the transmitter controls it.

I know the basics from planes, throttle, rudder, ailerons and stuff, but nothing about how a heli flys and move around.

I don't know if anything exists, I've never looked, but try seaching google?
It depends what you are wanting to know about really.
Lots of useful information on wikipedia too...

            Cheers,

The Twister Medevac and Bell 47 come with a nice basic DVD on how the heli works and that would get you going (indoors) nicely - you won't do any damage either if you hit something (apart from maybe a cracked blade - come in 6 packs). It will give you something to get going with whilst you explore the bigger offerings.

The side to side cyclic moves the aircraft body like ailerons and the fore-aft cyclic like elevators. The collective changes the pitch of the rotor to vary lift and the tail rotor controls are analagous to rudder. Main difference is that the whole caboodle is dangling from the rotor and has the stability of a marble on a plate especially in hover where the heli is buffeted by its own wake turbulence. Building a heli goes a long way to understanding how they work rather than buying arf .. arf models.

Have just ordered the Phoenix Sim with Futaba lead from Skyline, hopefully should get that in a couple of days and see how I get on.

Any tips on what heli I should be looking for ?

                Regards

                Richard

PS: Thanks guys for all your good advice and quick responses so far.

Looks like a nice piece of kit, I think personally I am going to buy a new kit mainly so that I can built it (with your help of course ) and learn how it works and goes together.

                                Would something large that a 30 be better, a 50 maybe ?
