I'm glad im not the only one who thinks this way. Having said that i think i will go nitro in the end but its thanks to small electric that i know that i want to spend more cash on the hoby

I have seen a few who spend a lot of money in one go, and after a crash or two get depressed and out the kit on e-bay... such a shame as once you get the basic skills you are hooked....... Won't be fuel power for me as I am building the new T-Rex 600, see my other post, I fly most evening in my garden, my local club has a waiting list and you can't fly a heli until you have flown fixed wing for two years !!! Not for me....
Fly today, tomorrow it may be too late !!

Is that a rule at the club Martin, 'Can't fly a heli until you have flown fixed wing for two years'. Sounds a bit ridiculous too me.

Sure is Fixxxer!! They open for new members at the start of the year but if no one drops out. They would like it to stay a fixed wing club, maybe the 2 year thing is a way of geting 100 % dedecated heli fliers !! I have some other clubs to look into but thinking of my own electric heli club maybe, been talking to a farmer this week !

Jeeez, the length some folks will goto...... sounds like setting up your own club is the best idea if possible. Good luck with that.

Sounds like a fixed wing only GIMMER club to me, the standard old farts mentality

The plankers at our club, although a nice bunch, talk about us like we are just temporary and with any luck we'll be moving on soon.

That's the problem with most of these clubs, chock full of wankers, chock full of anal not sensible rules backed up by the BMFA geriatrics

Thanks for all the good advice guys, even if the thread has gone a little off topic..

I have been offered a Twister 3D with everything needed to fly for £150 apparently it's only 4 weeks old and the guy has brought it and never used it, it was test flown by the shop he brought it from but thats it.

A good flight SIM will cost me that kind of money!

What do you think?? If I don't get on with it I can always sell it on, parts are cheep and if I do learn to fly it then a Raptor or something will be a doddle to fly if I decide to go IC in the future! Plus I would have all the radio etc, I think he has a Hitec Optic 6 radio, not sure if thats any good..

                          Cheers

You need a sim and it's much better to get one to start with as you will end up getting one at some point, probably just after you crashed, we've all either got them of had them.

Flying helis is tricky with tiny movements on the sticks and the sim will give you the reactions you need, not even Ade will disagree with that (he disagrees with most things I say)

Gotta be a go'er for 150 notes, just don't expect to be zipping around the sky after and hour, patience is a virtue while learning the first few steps so take it steady and don't try to run before you can walk or in this istance 'fly before you can hover'

All the best, you know you wanna
