Richie: I snapped the job lot up within an hour. Thanks to the many people on here who have pointed me in the right direction regarding the best set up for me to advance in my new found passion. Namely: brin, DIJ, opc, cambs flyer, cjcj1949, heliTV and speedy jon. I could hardly believe it after posting my decision to opt for the blade 400 and this came up, will be looking for advice once I get going. But you do have a point about keeping the phoenix, if Dipsta had a change of heart I'd easily come to a re-aranged deal if he decided so.

After speaking to him on the phone last night I've got to agree. And it must have took balls to openly admit what he did. He could easily have put it on eBay and no-one here would have been any the wiser.

Tut tut ... I fly planes as well lol....And I can fly both heheh ... Must mean I am well endowed in the brain department then .. As for Dipsta giving up .. Alot of people come in the hobby thinking its either easy to learn and easy to set up a heli .. Neither are true and the hobby when you first start takes up a hell alot of your free time .. As me how I know lmao ... Luckily for my I do work alot of hours but I also get alot of time off with the shifts I work so pushed myself fast to learn .. The setting up side and building I wanted to learn more so concentrated on that then learnt to fly ....

Sorry to hear your leaving us mate come back real soon when you have more time. I do know what you mean about not having time & having to many comitments. You sound exactly like I was 5 years back.
I'm a patient man in general & it took me 3 attempts over 5 years to learn to fly helis. I managed it with help from people on this forum who I'm greatly indebted to.
The major part in my learning was heli lessons with phoenix model aviation.
I was so embarassed that I couldnt manage forwards flight. This is from a guy who had been flying fixed wing aerobatic models & Gliders for nearly 20 years. I just couldnt coordinate my left (pitch) hand with my right (elevator) hand & every attempt to move off resulted in a crash into the ground.
After 4 crashes of my raptor 50 in 4 weeks I sold it all up.
That was the first attempt but I couldnt get rid of this itch that I had for helis. I foolishly tried twice more & failed misserably. The fourth attempt I got myself some lessons & after 6 lessons (3 sessions) I was flying about like a goodun.
Moral of the story realy has to be if you want to sucseed you need to seek out a professional to sort your heli for you, so it flies easily.
Once that has been done it is a lot easier for you to fly so easy that even a plank fier with a small brain could do it. If the professional you find can also give you a go on a buddy box you realy are laughing.

Didn't realise you had such a painful start.... Quite glad Steve put me in touch with Pete so soon!!
Watching you fly now, I'd never have realised!!!
Hopefully see you next weekend - too windy today!!!

Dipsta - sorry you've sold up - maybe we'll see you back in the future...

              All the best

After some PMs with both dipsta and bantu, I stand corrected over my initial concerns for dipsta's sale of his heli to bantu. Bantu comes across as a decent, level headed & honest member who was in the right place at the right time.

                Regards to both.

I did think it was going to be easier and i dont have the time or patience to do it, at least i admit defeat!
I sort of worded my comments wrong sorry

good on you for admitting defeat and having the balls to do it publically, far braver than I

I was really just pointing out that far too many people do come into this thinking it is far easier than it actually is and are horrified when they realise the learning curve

Hi dipsta i know you pm'd me about coming over to your place to fly etc having a farm and strip etc (sounds really good!!) but i didn't realise you were having so many problems in setting the B400 up or/and didn't have the sort of time one needs for this hobby (i didn't see this thread!!).............i can totally understand the time aspect with your racing commitments as i've got my golf into a engine builder which will come back to me real soon then i need to prep for the VW cup but looks like i've mist the boat for this year as the cam sprocket decided to let go right after the last time it was just put back together.

I'm sure when you have the time/money you will come back into this hobby as i'm sure the side car racing takes much of the later

I devote much of my time to my racing and the season starts shortly. I need to go over to the Isle of man to gain some track knowledge as i am in for a chance at the podium. Then its time to prepare the bike and refesh the engines. So amm my time will go there!

Cheers for all the comments and Phil no hard feelings. Wish you all the best with this interesting hobby!
