By the way I have noticed some models are bind n fly, what does that mean?
    Regards
    Jeff.

The bind n fly models do not come with a TX. Its a cheaper option if you already have a suitable one.

I bought the bind n fly mCX and bound it to my existing CX2 TX, So you could buy the CX2 with a TX and the bind n fly version of the mCX if you wanted them both.

DIJ, thanks for your speedy answer, by TX I guess you mean transmitter? Sorry but I don't know that much.
You also mention that since you have a MCX you dont use your CX2 much, now I am not so sure if I should buy the two, oh my head hurts, decisions, decisions.
        Regards
        Jeff.

Both the CX2 and mCX are 2.4 Ghz which means no interference and frequency problems. I like them both, but rearely fly the CX2 now - inside, its always the mCX and outdoors is always the Blade 400... I go to an indoor club in a hall and fly the CX2 there sometimes...
In my opinion, the CX2 is better built than the Lama (and comes with a proper receiver rather than a 4-in-1...
Guess you pays your money and takes your choice...

I have been flying (don't laugh) my Esky Lama V4 for nearly a year and I can honestly say that I really love it, a, for its simplicity and b, I don't get a lot of time to fly and I can quickly get it out for a blast.
I have even managed to fly it outside a few times, but today I flew it outside and the wind got hold of it and smashed it to the ground. To be honest it is not really built for outside flying, but I enjoy being outside, after all you can only get so high at home.
The dreaded question now is I would like another one, but which one?
I would like one that is around the same size as the Lama V4 so that I can fly it in the house, but also one that I can fly outside on a mild day. I would also like one that is a little harder to fly but not that hard to fly, if you know what I mean.
I know quite a feat, but I don't have a clue, that's why I need your knowledge and advice.
            Please can anyone help?
            Regards
            Jeff.
Hi Jeff. My LHS talked me into B400. Their like " Just do little bunny hops and before you know it you'll be off the ground". Well 4 months later am off the ground about 8 feet tail in 15 feet away. Not very impressive. Do I regret it, not really. But if slow before you show is your style I say go for it. But I did buy my son a BCX2 and you will out grow it quick, he did. Dewey

Its a tough call as they are so similar, but the mCX is a far better heli in my opinion. As I said earlier I just feel you would be better getting the mCX and something different/bigger for the second heli. But at the end of the day, its your call.

I am going to come clean, I actually have an Esky Belt CP which I bought about a year ago and have a training kit on it. However, I have only tried to fly it around half a dozen times and put off by how hard it is to fly. I have never had it more than 6 inches off the ground. The Lama was so much easier to fly. I don't know how to set it up as it tends to constantly drift backwards and to the left. Time is not always on my side, and that is why I liked my Lama. I would love to learn more, and just noticed today when I have looked in the box of the CP, that there is a disk which has what looks like a flight sim in called FMS.
I think that I might go for the MCX and try putting a bit more time in with the CP.
                What does anyone think?
                Regards.
                Jeff
P.S. sorry for all the questions, but I am very grateful for the advice.

if you still have the lama here is a quick set up guide to get it flying right.
                  to start hover the heli.
looking from the tail of the heli
if it drifts sideways.and the trim is not enough to control it. centre the trim....pop off the ball link on the left servo arm. if the heli is drifting right..shorten the rod(screw the loop on further). half a turn and retry hovering if its drifting left lengthen it.
if the heli is drifting forward centre the trim pop off the right hand ball link and shorten the rod...backwards lengthen it.... remember half a turn at a time. be patient and you will get it hovering steady with no trim needed at all.

now the tail. hover the heli it should now be in a nice steady hover if the tail drifts right with no input.. land the heli turn the proportion pot anti clockwise very slightly.left drift turn clockwise..then disconnect the battery..reconnect and re-hover. small adjustments be patient. once the tail doesn't drift...apply input to the rudder and release if the heli continues to turn slightly then slowly settles add gain. if it is reluctant to turn and wags reduce gain.( you can do this without disconnecting each time)

try this mate its copied and pasted from an earlier thread i did

try the fms flight sim then think about phoenix fs its light years ahead

I know it's frustrating learning this hobby but if you put some hours into the sim and have the patience to stick with it you won't regret it. FMS will certainly help no end and its what I started with, but a better sim will really pay off.

                      Boggy,
Unfortunately my Lama got smashed, but thanks for the advice. Its my Esky belt CP that I cannot set up. It constantly drifts backwards and to the left. It didn't come with any instructions on how to correct it, can anyone advise me.
                      DIJ,
Yes I think a flight sim is a great idea, from the sound of it phoenix is the best one, does anyone have a copy I could buy as it is an expensive program?
                      Regards.
                      Jeff.

I received my MCX a few hours ago and this heli is so much fun. My 6 year old daughter wants to learn how to fly it, I bet she will be better than me.
                        Thanks for all your help.

Thats great Jeff, and I'm pleased to hear you're happy with it. I reckon you'll be ordering some spare batteries soon

Just a little tip, on both my batteries the ends fouled one of the motor cogs when it was fully inserted, so I rounded the battery corner a touch. Just something you might want to check.

If I can find 2 servo arms, you can have them if you want to try this but you will have to cut a slot in the canopy.

Nipster, do you know anywhere I can buy the servo arms? I've had my Dauphin since Xmas, and I would like to try this, but as you know, Esky cut off the arms for the Dauphin.

                            Thanks,

BTW, I've got an Extreme shaft and blades on the way

the problem with the kids getting into it (my lad is!) is that you still pay for the bits!!! Good hobby to enjoy together though so well worth it...
