If he's dropped his price it just shows he was happy to pop you for 30 notes. I'm making the conversion from fixed-wing to helicopter and you should find some of the orientations a wee bit easier but beyond that it's a totally new learning curve.

I'd imagine that flying gliders you've hopefully found the rudder and throttle stick by now as coming from fixedwing power it's evident just how many fixed wing people have an under developed left thumb.

I can't tell you what to buy but from what I've already read you've had some cracking advice. If you've already got a computer transmitter then there's little point buying another just now. Again, I'll not try to tell you which sim to buy, but Phoenix has great support on here and is more specialised towards helis.

Whatever you spend your cash on, just make sure you enjoy it, and that you can get hold of plenty of spares - ideally also someone experienced nearby with a similar model can help no end.

          Happy landings,

hi mate - i would get the belt cp for £140, sell the g4 sim and get phoenix. when you have learnt the basics(hover and circuits) and are ready for flips/loops/rolls/inverted then you can sell it and you should be able to get about £140 for it as its the carbon and cnc version with upgrade gyro/esc/spare lipos. go for it

                matty
                cheers

                    Hi and welcome Helli-JG,
Been reading your posts mate over what to buy, I am reasonably new to this hobby as well and fly? both fixed wing and Helicopters, and enjoy doing both, I know a few people who have got the belt CP and find it OK if not a little twitchy, but it does circuits and hover practice fine, for any aerobatics not that great, I have a blade 400 and find its fantastic, once you have it set up right for you, and thats out of box with no upgrades needed, the spares are cheap as chips as well and there is loads of info on here for it. Boggys thread is great for set up and advice on it. you can use the spectrum TX for your other models as well once you get the Rx's and they are cheap enough. As said already in other posts i would look to get a contra first as I did. Little lama 4 only £50 at Cosford at weekend, or CX2 both the same to me, but you will gain loads of experience from it, as for Sim Phoenix is best i have seen up to now and very realistic, but not like flying the real McCoy. I would think you will get better value for money if you go this route and enjoy the hobby better, as it gets addictive and cost you money all the time, so cheap spare's at the start is a big factor.

I don't think you will find the Phoenix Sim anywhere for under £79, but it pays for itself in the spares it saves you. and i have only every seen one second hand on EBay and that went for the same price as the new one. No one sells it once they have it.

Buzzflyer sell some of the E-Sky stuff with 2.4Ghz, but not with DX6i's, afIk the only heli sold with a DX6i is the Blade 400. But as a complete beginner I wouldn't go for that heli, don't get me wrong I have one and love her to bits, but so far I've only had her airborne for a few seconds, and then crashed, she's a lively little madam and no mistake, defo not for a beginner like us. In the right hands and with practice and confidence (mostly my problem the confidence bit) she's a beauty, I've seen vids of her flying and not advertising stuff either. But no novice bird. However, watch this space, as a couple of us are trying to work out how to tame her down a little.

Sold mine within 30 minutes of listing it at a Buy it no price of £55 with free first klass recorded postage. If you had said you were definately up for Phoenix RC earlier you could have had it mate. I just wanted a quick sale as i already own another copy. You'll be very lucky if you find one at that price anywhere including postage mind. I think the going rate is about £60 plus a few quid postage second hand.
