Yes John Salt certainly does give alot of great advice that's for sure. I found by keeping the head speed up around 80% in I/up right across the curve gives more stability for when learning hovering and slow circuits. Don't worry about the extra speed and noise, its the cyclic and pitch that flies the heli extra head speed just makes it easier. Just watch as the heli becomes more responsive to stick inputs too.

it was a bit of a heartstoper pete when I changed modes the heli dropped, I thought just my luck flick a switch and crash, but it picked up speed, I was grinning like a chesire cat when I finished pack,
how are you getting on with your flying mate,

I've been out of the country for the last month, so had a fairly long break from flying. But I was pleasantly surprised to find that after a few mins back on the sim I was flying better than ever and feeling quite refreshed. So I flew my mCPX and nQX yesterday and that felt good too. Bread and butter upright flight is becoming second nature now and I'm pretty comfortable flying circuits and 8s in any direction. So I've started working on inverted flight on the sim, which is now starting to come along too, although I'm not really looking to get into hardcore 3D flying. But I would like to be able to fly nice loops and rolls. Looking forward to getting more time flying outdoors now the summer is fast approaching. Will also look to add a 300-450 size heli to my fleet in the near future. Sounds like your 450X is a real buzz to learn with. Keep up the good work!

cheers dave good info mate, I am looking forward to next outing with 450 it is very windy here at moment, hope for a break over the weekend, funny thing is I have been flying 200srx in windy conditions without too much problem, something that was a no no not so very long ago, I really would love to be in a position with 450 where wind wouldn't bother me, it will come in time just got to be patient,

when I took off with my 450x only last week for the first time, I couldn't believe how stable it was in a hover, I was pleasantly surprised , I think your recommendation of JS's book really gave me what I needed the settings to get me on my way, I will take for now the sport route until I get really dialled in,

Great to hear that the 450X is going well. I've found the JS book and website invaluable as a beginner. My biggest problem at the moment is free time to actually get out flying, which is starting to hold me back. But still getting regular sim time and flying the micros in the house/garden. I suppose the upside is that I should be better prepared when I do step up to a larger model.

well after going so well, I did standing circuits a few left right turns, and left right runs, I have only one pack with 450, so while waiting for its third charge i had a play with 200srx, it was getting towards 8pm I thought i'd go and see if its charged it wasn't thought leave to tomorrow, but as I went to go down stairs charger stopped, thought give it last pack for the day, went out took off straight into a circuit big mistake it was either shed or deck I chose deck, note to self be patient, crash damage main shaft, rotation bracket, elevator arm, blades, main gear wheel, hope to be flying 450 again by weekend, if not the trusty 200,

Oh no what a shame! At least you'll gain some valuable experience of repair and setup on the 450.
