But don't be tempted to learn 3D in your flat with the mCPX BL as you will probably chop yourself up and shred all your furniture in the process.
the nano cpx isn't a compromise. It's less powerful true. But a great machine. I only use mine outside

There's no value in having an mcpx v2 and an mcpx bl. Just get the brushless and spend the rest on spares. The bl version just addresses the issues of the v2 in that the tail would blow out and the power was lacking. The v2 I found more difficult to fly.

What I meant was it's a compromise on size for its potential use indoors. But if you're flying outside 100% I don't see the point in choosing it over a mCPX BL. But maybe I've missed something?

Less of a handful Id imagine. But then again I have never had a bl. Also the nano can be had for as low as around 60 brand new

I agree the Nano is probably less of a handful, but then if it's a bit windy I'd imagine it gets blown around more too. I find the standard mCPX V2 is pretty good for garden flying but still needs to be pretty calm. It's just about big enough to handle a breeze and not that hard to control. Haven't tried the BL version either, but I bet the extra power is much better for 3D as the review in the link I posted suggests. The Nano sounds like fun, but seems more of an indoor choice to me, although I suppose it is less than half the price of a mCPX BL if that matters.

I'm wondering where you can get a new BL for £80?

I think I'm not allowed to post links to shops here, anyway I just bought it.
It was a refurbished unit, it was new, had a faulty mainboard, the board was replaced with a brand new one, so it couldn't be sold as new.

I'm also being tempted to but a 180cfx! This is addictive.

Sounds like a great deal for £80. I don't know the forum rules on linking to shops but think you could at least mention the shop name (presuming you are just a happy customer), other people do that all the time.

BL on the way! I was about to take the plunge and buy a 180cfx too, but I've decided to wait, once I can't take more out of the BL I will consider the 180cfx or maybe a 450.

Just an update in case anyone is in my same situation:
I bought both Nano Cpx and Mcpx BL.

I find the Nano a thousand times easier to fly than the v911, you have more control and more precision in every movement. Take off is so much easier! just throw the collective stick up and you're flying, no drift sideways or anything.

I also find inverted hovering with the Nano is easier than in the sim (maybe asx has something to do with it).

Bear in mind that I'm a beginner, but I found the Nano less reactive that the Goblin (size 600) I fly in the sim, for example when using cyclic, the Goblin in the sim just turns instantly, the Nano has bit more lag but I guess it's just a matter of getting used to it's reactions.

The Mcpx BL is a bit more reactive than the Nano, I haven't flied it much as I first want to transfer my skills from the sim to the Nano, and then to the Mcpx.

Sounds like you've already put the hours in on the sim. With that, the nano and BL you're well away. You've everything you need there to learn all the core 3D skills, it'll set you up very nicely for your first larger model.

Just need to start saving for something bigger now :-)
