Thanks for the good luck wishes, after tonights slow progress I'll need it

The guide I'm using online is good but it does miss out one or two essential instructions. I slowly figured it out for myself.

    Tail unit assembly tomorrow night!

          Some more progress tonight.

Following these instructions everything spins in the correct direction but rotating the rotor head in a clockwise direction would not spin the main gear.

'Viewing the helicopter from above, rotate the rotor head in a clockwise direction. The tail rotor should turn counter-clockwise when viewed from the right.'

Manually turning the main gear caused the rotor head to spin and the tail rotor to spin correctly too. Is it normal for the main gear to not engage while manually spinning the rotor head as instructed?

              Hey Dez

The build has went well. All radio gear is now fitted and the engine arrived today so it should all be complete by the weekend I'll post a pic later.

I'm looking to buy a 4.8v receiver battery pack, can anyone please recommend a good choice to buy and a link to somewhere online I can order from?

              Thanks

                      Sneeks,

I use one of these - has Tamiya type connector and the normal Rx charge lead.

                      Lasts for ages between charges.

Thanks for the battery advice, the ebay Raptor 30 battery looks like a good buy. I have a 2700mah 4.8v square battery in the post but I may well buy one of those from ebay next week and swap the 2700mah out of the heli.

How long should a rx 4.8v 2700mah battery take to fully charge if I'm using a 1amp peak charger? The charger doesn't come with any instructions but the label does say RX 4.8-6v Red 1000mA and TX 7.2-9.6v Green 850mA. After 3 hours the light has switched from Red to Green.

                          Thanks

If its the batteries first charge then it will take a wee bit longer mate. Is it possible that if the light turns to green then the Battery is charged??

Edit: Are you coming to Waterfoot on Sunday mate? If you are, remember to bring the heli with you

Yeah I'll be coming along on Sunday but I've still to pay my membership for this year so I'll not have the heli with me. I'll hopefully get the engine fitted tomorrow and fees paid to the club. With any luck there will be people at the club tomorrow who can point me in the right direction for fitting the engine.

The batteries were starting to get very warm so I have unplugged them for now.

Have you paid your SAA fee's?? If you pay them tomorrow you should get a slip that covers you for 30 days which means you could bring it with you If there is no one to help you install the engine or pay fee's too then bring the heli with you & one of us up at WF will help you install it!!
