yes its superseded by the msr-x but you should still be able to find stock if not on website by ringing the shops direct. (you can get ready to fly with its own transmitter, otherwise you will need a spektum item dx6i/ dx7 etc)

the difference being the new msr-x is flybarless it uses a 3 axis gyro for stability.(roll/pitch/yaw)...(pitch in this case being nose up and down not heli up and down)

it comes with its own little charger and 2 batteries which takes around 20 mins and if you buy four extra batteries you could just about fly continuously

Ah nice so takes 20 mins to charge or give you 20 mins flying time. Moving from a twin blade to a single blade i assume its alot different but what difference does it make.

Sorry for all the questions just trying to cram info in lol

flying time is around 6/8 mins on std batteries. flying is not a lot harder just quicker, more responsive you'll just need to be a little more "on top" of the heli.

ask as much as you like, I'm surprised nobody else has chipped in with opinions. after all we all have different idea's as to how we approach the hobby.

(every one else will be wrong obviously )

I agree with everything that has been said, I decided to only fly indoor helis so can probably help you at this stage.
The msr-x is probably the best start you could make now, but I would advise to get the dx6i to go with it and later when funds allow get Phoenix and learn how the CP helis are different without actually buying one. If you will want to fly the bigger stuff find a local club and go along and see what you are letting yourself in for - also very important how much money it will cost you.

So would you say something like a Blade MsR-X with a DX5i or a DX6i would give me the chance to upgrade at a later stage

not the 5 you will need at least 6 channels to move on to collective pitch heli's the 5 is aimed more for aircraft users

yes at the very least a dx6i. if you are planning to fly scale and may need more channels for realism (undercarriage etc) then consider a dx7 or even a dx8

                        Nigeria Homebuilt fixed pitch helicopter

@BoggyNice suggestion Boggy for telling him to try searching for electric fixed pitch helicopters with tail motors, such as century neon blaze, honey.Hello buddies. I am kingsley, from Nigeria..I am currently building a fixed pitch helicoper. Size 450. It is almost entirely homebuilt. When i first made the commitment to build this helicopter. My location and dwindling funds made it impossible to buy most of the critical components required to build a docile heli. But having made a commitment,i went on to fabricate those parts i couldn't buy. These parts includes, the rotor head, swashplate, oneway bearing, main rotor blades(wooden) and a Brushed Motor modification(to increas the Motor Kv). All these aforementioned parts have all been fabricated and tested to certify worthiness. The Heli is almost done. It took me roughly 800 hours, including several trial and errors to get it up to the current stage nowAs situation stands right now. The heli does lift up under its own power and is capable of carying the full heli weight including the li-ion battery pack. However,i don't do this for long as i have to hold and steady the tail with my left hand so the Heli does not roll or pitch. The reason is; i haven't installed the servos that control the swashplate. I'm still looking for servos and a 4 channel Tx/Rx. The one i am currently using for testing purposes, has only 3 channels. So it would be fatal to attempt to use it to fly the heli. I will pretty well appreciate it alot if some nice friend out here offers me any. In case you wish to contact me,here's my email add.; Kingsleyobinna26@yahoo.com ... Thanks Here is my progress work on the Heli: Homebuilt Radio controlled Helicopter - Science/Technology - Nairaland
