  • Beastx Make your own Spektrum Satellite Adapter

As many may have already guessed that its just simply getting the right cables together to do this, plus i don't see the point of paying £15 plus P+P when i have numerous broken servo wire and some cut up satellite cables from previous crashed.

Here's how to make it, the picture says it all.

Get a Spektrum satellite lead from the local LHS at £2.99 and splice in half (yo can make 2 ) or if you are the fussy type get a male connector (socket type) for about £1.50 and you can make one that looks exactly like the one on beastx website.

now connect the these wire up for the Spektrum cut leads (same method applies for the male socket connector just follow the leads in the pic).

Spektrum orange to servo wire red

Spektrum black to servo wire black or brown depending on your servo lead

Spektrum grey to servo wire orange or white

a bit of heat sink and that's it, plug it to the beastx bind and away you go .

Apparently there is some kind of step down circuitry in the lead to drop the voltage to approx 3v 3.3v i think. Otherwise there may be too much power going to the sat. This is not 100% confirmed though!

yep thats true, i did notice that when i measures the voltage of main receiver, so i plugged a 6v supply into the satellite receiver all night and left it. it was still working after 20 hours so i don't think it will burn up. as most tiny electronics circuits run on 3.3v or 5v

if you really want to be safe, use one of these.

      http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=7937

plug the red wire to one and black to the ground and take the 3.3v supply of the other pin the ground is common. this what the Beastx guys are doing on their circuit .

or even simpler plug a 3v zener diode on the red wire like on the align step down thing.

all these components are under a pound at Maplins . or PM and i will gladly make you one all with the right 3v Stepdown all good fun

There's more than a step down on there Asid, can you see the numbers on the IC ?

looks like it might be an oscillator, in which case if you don't have one the signal timings may be wrong.

its not an IC its just a regulator and a few resistors

I can't help but think that this is one occasion where spending £15 is the sensible option

The risk to the survival of your entire heli to save such a small sum doesn't seem to be in proportion to the investment we make in everything else we use.

you dont really have to use LP2981 it just what beastx uses , you can use lots of different types just go to maplin and ask for a 3v regulator, there are loads of them out there its just a regulator

of course i forgot to add try this at own risk i know it works.

it not about the money but every little helps, it just that i have all the bits an i think modelling is about making things. after all the beastx guys are just engineers like me and we buy thier products and many time they ain't right and we test our models on thier products .

besides they only 250 and 450's if it was 600 i wouldn't risk it wither but beastx advice not to use on greater than 450's
