T Rex 700e + 3G Initial Setup

I`m just coming to the end of initial setup of my 3G TRex700e.

In DIR mode I have used the swash mix to set up the recommended cyclic and collective pitch range for the 3G system.

Limits and directions and the tail have also been done.

Just wondering what next...

Do I now set up my three pitch curves to reduce the travel to get the required pitch range in each flight mode or do I start reducing the swash to set up any required limits?

The cyclic pitch will possibly need reducing as well.

What`s the correct method to finish up.

Adjust the value's in the swash mix the same as you would a flybarred setup.

say i wanted to use a spartan or alternative gyro with the 3g system do i just simply unplug the gyro and plug in a new one ?? sorry to sound dumb

Yes mate, just unplug the rudder and the gain from the 3G unit and fit your own gyro as normal direct into the receiver.

nice one , ive only ever used the align gp 750-780 gyros so im looking at a spartan whats the best one to go for ?? (sorry for the thread steal)

I would actually start a new thread then we arnt hacking Malc's thread but while I am here..

Its all about personal choice.

BTW what cyclic pitch is everyone using on the 700E?

if you go on aligns web site there is a video with bert kammera on and shows you in very easy steps how to set it up(on a 700) i did this when i set up my 550e fblits easyer than trying to work it out fronm the destructions !!

I did check out a video earlier of Bert setting his heli up but it didn`t cover this I don`t think.

Set the collective and cyclic in DIR mode using the radio swash AFR as shown in the book. When you exit DIR the 3G will reboot, then go ahead and set the tail gyro in the normal way (GP780). The AFR settings are now set and do not need any more adjustment.

Now set the N, ID1 & ID2 using radio curves in the normal way, do not touch AFR as if you do the previous sequence must be repeated.

I'm flying a 600 with 8 degrees of cyclic pitch and around 15% expo, hope this helps.

I have run through and set up the collective at 14 degrees and the cyclic to 12 degrees as recommended.

The tail is done.

The pitch can obviously been reduced with the pitch curves.

The cyclic I know needs to be somewhere near your settings but are you saying that I need to reduce this down from 12 degrees in the initial set up in DIR mode?

Yes.

12 degrees cyclic is crazy for my style of flying so it is necessary to reduce the radio swash mix to ~50 leading to cyclic pitch of 8 degrees. The rationale is that doing it this way ensures full radio resolution

I thought about the full resolution thing thats what is confusing me a bit.

Surely reducing this down in DIR mode does not give you this.
