It might be a driver issue....

You dont need to be bound to have the software recognise it and allow you to move through the config.... it should say USB connected

Yes Jimmy, you are right. I have gone into devices menu on windows 7 & it says the device has no drivers?
So, is that something that should be included in the software download?

If it's the USB UART driver, I may have had the same situation when I was trying to get the USB cable to work for the Total-G. I had to download the .exe version of these drivers for the computer to see the USB port as a serial port.

Yep, it's a lack of drivers that's the problem & i wouldn't even know where to start looking.
I would be interested to know if anyone else has had this problem, i'm guessing that most of you have already have a v bar of some sorts, so have the licensed software and usb cable already set up for the FuBar to work.

With the Total-G USB cable it needed a virtual com port driver (usb to rs232). It;s not a Total-G specific thing it's a generic driver for these USB cables / dongles. What worked is this driver; http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/CDM/CDM20828_Setup.exe

I think these may be the drivers you're looking for (although I'm not 100% sure, as my FUbar hasn't arrived yet, so I haven't tested the driver)

I have finally sorted the driver issue & got the FuBar to bind & talk to the computer. Now i can start the set up.

Gone through the vbar set up tonight which was quite easy, although the gyro is compensating the wrong way!
The set up refers to the sensor direction. My FuBar is located at the front of the Heli with the USB port pointing toward the main shaft and servo plugs etc pointing to front of Heli. Everything else is compensating in the right direction, could an incorrect sensor direction effect the gyro only? There is only 2 options as the others are for label pointing down. I have also set expo etc on my tx, how do I disable it on the vbar software?

Hi swap the two cycli servos and rev ail in the radio. then check elev and pitch direction Cheers Jason

If compensating wrong, when you set up in tx section was everything correct if so proberly orination off unit

The expo is in the expert section that's the little hat symbol in the top corner of each selection box

+1 what Jason said, failing that you may need to use a - number i.e. -60 instead of a 60 in the tx setup etc...

Thanks for the replies. It was late last night when I posted & don't think I explained the problem correctly.
It's the tail servo that's compensating in the wrong direction. When I did the tx set up, I sub trimmed all channels to zero and made sure everything had 100% travel both ways.
So now when I move the nose of the Heli ccw the pitch slider moves out towards the grips and not into the tail box but the rudder is going the right way when i move the stick
As for the expo, I'm presuming then that I can turn it off in expert and control it with the tx, to save taking the laptop to the field to adjust?
