              • So the fubar only uses channels 1 to 6, thats great news for dx6i users. Didnt like the idea of wiring a rx to get it to work.

                      • i have been following this thread with interest.... and have been pleasantly surprised that it has not turned into a slanging match between those that want to try these clones and those that frown upon the theft of the IP that is involved...

Im torn on this, as it is very difficult to agree with seeing someone elses hard work being stolen and reproduced to perhaps what is not the same standard. It is also hard however to completely support companies like Mikado with their pricing policy as it is at present.

In the beginning of FBL, the high prices were probably an indication of the relatively small market, and the steep and expensive learning curve of the inventors.

With such high volumes of FBL units now being sold, it is difficult to see how they justify the pretty tremendous expense of their hardware and software. Purely guessing, the hardware for a Vbar now probably costs <£20 to make, and even if the markup by retailers is 50% (which I doubt) they are therefore still making a 300% profit on every unit they sell.

I appreciate that there are continued costs of product development to take into account, and of course customer service, but it was only a matter of time before the clones arrive when there is such a huge discrepancy between the manufacturing cost of the physical machine, and the retail price.

                        • I think (at least to me) that a number of us are trying these, but are also legit vbar owners.

                          • I'm of the belief that at least for the BeastX clone the firmware has been sold, liscensed or other agreement come to. Freakware have done no more in the last 2 years than sell their product or the technology at least to others, TSA, and Spectrum. Hobbyking is an extension or revenue stream that they wouldn't have, the biggest online hobby store in the world and the biggest return

Can't say the same for V Bar though

                            • I personally have bought the Fu-Bar to try on my 450 clone. I refuse to spend significantly more than the cost of the heli on a FBL unit so have decided to give it a go. On my 700DFC however I use a SK540, On my Trex 550 I use an AR7200BX and on my 400SE I use another SK540.

                              • Yes sorry, I wasnt meaning to have a go at people trying or start pointing fingers....

im very tempted myself, and nearly got hold of a ka bar at one point, but they suddenly got very hard to get hold of.....

I have a full size blueline vbar on one of my helis, and it is lovely....

The point I was trying to make is that if its possible to make the hardware for such little money, why havent we seen the price of FBL systems come down as the volume goes up?....
