  • Spektrum DX7 and Align MR25 not working

    Hi

I'm new on the forum looking for some help with a my new Align MR25. Just ordered this from fast-Lad with a Spektrum satellite receiver to go with my DX7 (original version). What ever I do I cannot get it to work. I have created a new Aircraft model on the transmitter. When you turn the MR24 on it goes into what I think is bind mode, yellow lights flash quickly. I can link the APP to the model ok and set the correct receiver type but when you move the sticks you get nothing. The motor test works so there is life there but no link from the transmitter on any channel. I've tried turning the transmitter on in bind mode, not in bind mode, first and last but nothing.

I have also tried connecting the satellite receiver to an AR7000, binding it (which works perfectly fine) and then connected to the MR25. When I do this the bind light comes on solid (most times) but still cannot get the MR25 to recognise any movement on the sticks or switches.

I have also tried 2 other receivers an AR7000 and AR6110, when these are connected I do get them to bind when the MR25 starts up. I turn the MR25 on first then the transmitter in bind mode. I can get the MR25 to see these and they appear to work ok as I can complete the setup without any problems. I am able to calibrate the sticks and set switch positions no problem, HOWEVER, as soon as I turn the MR25 & transmitter off and back on again, it goes back into bind mode. It has lost the BIND from the previous time however when I do bind it again all the settings in the app are still there.

Surely this cannot be correct that you have to bind the receiver every time and turn on the transmitter in bind mode?? I have read a comment on here there is a problem with Spektrum receivers, has any one else seen this or any ideas? I have been trying every combination now for 3 days!

    many thanks
    Dave

Hi Dave, welcome to the forum
Don't have a MR25, but i read on another forum of a possible bug in the software. A work around is to bind the RX to a Gpro first, then transfer it over to the MR25.

Hmm... your AR7000 and AR6110 should work fine, but it sounds like you've forgotten to remove the bind plug as there is no other way those two should go into bind mode when powered on.

If you want to use a satellite on its own then you will need to bind to it using either a GPro or an Align 150 and then transfer the satellite to the MR25.

However, I would think carefully about using just a single satellite since AFAIK, there is no fail-safe mode setting on the MR25 firmware yet and you can't set failsafe on just a Spektrum satellite on its own...

Thanks Boggy, Mike656 and Mike T, unfortunately I don't have a Gpro or Align 150

Mike_T - definitely no bind plug. Every time the MR25 is turned on again with either of those receivers connected it puts them into bind mode. Tried every combination I can think of. The MR25 starts up with the yellow LEDs flashing and the receiver blinking in bind mode. Will not connect until the transmitter is started in bind mode and this then puts the MR25 into its 'normal' mode where the controls/ motors work, turn it off/ on again though and u have to repeat the bind process.

the receivers work fine outside the MR25

Interesting, I'm not sure how that is possible though, the AR7000 and AR6110 would be connected to the MR25 using the individual channel cables and with nothing in the Data/Bind slot on the receiver I'm not sure how it would cause it to go into bind mode.

Then again I'm also not sure why this model requires a satellite bound with a specific device like the GPro either

Please note that the unit will attach and work with Futaba, JR and convential Recievers, including Spektrum DSM2 recievers. Spektrum Satalitte Recievers DSM2 / DSMX and DSMX transmission type are not currenly working with this product, but will get support in due course.

This is from the description from Align Trex.co.uk. This could be your problem with the sats.

It is a good warning to give people before purchase, but it is possible to get a Spektrum satellite working if you have a GPro or an Align 150 available.

Would have been better of course if Align had sorted this out before it was released ...

                  Hi again,

Just uploaded a video of what the quad is doing with a conventional Spektrum receiver AR6110 not a sateliite one. I know the receiver is good as I have taken it out of a working model, it does exactly the same with a Spektrum AR7000 so I don't think they are working with Spektrum at all.

Thanks Rich23 - The annoying thing is Align are promoting the Spektrum satellite receivers in their instruction videos which I watched before I purchased it.

I've now got this working with a standard Spektrum receiver AR6110. Feedback from the YouTube video advised to de-pin the white (S) wire from battery wire going to receiver. Did this and it stops the MR25 going into bind mode. Simple when you know how but it was one thing I didn't think of. Hopefully a test fly later although I may need to get a slimmer receiver as not much room in the quad for this receiver design.

                      Thanks for the feedback

Align dont you just love them lol ! You couldn't make it up if you tried !
" I know shall we release a new racing quad and make it difficult for people to use with various Spektrum setups and then we flood the market , we can always update the firmware once people have brought our products " "

                          Weird, very weird.

I can confirm that a single Spektrum satellite does work if you bind it first using an Align 150, but I really can't recommend that as a good solution as you don't get any failsafe that way.

I've managed to get this working with a Spektrum AR6110, from feedback on the video someone recommended removing the white wire to the receiver as you can see on the photo and this then stops the MR25 from going into bind mode. So it appears to be working with this setup. Still no luck on the Satellite receiver but I have message Align who have asked for photos so if I get any feedback I will post it on here.

Just received my MR25 but haven't started to set it up yet but I hoped to use a Spektrum satellite. Propellerhead78 were do you intend to mount the AR6110? There isn't much room on the underside of the top plate.
