  • Futaba & flybarless issues

Well I must say I didn't think I'd be saying it but I think I've made a big mistake ditching spektrum & going to the futaba 8fg. It's a nightmare with more spaghetti around the heli than an Italian restaurant.
The flybarless system is the vortex vx1 & the rx is not sbus it's the 617 fasst 7ch
Why I went futaba I'll never know. Well it had to do with a big beacon of a button on the dx18 but now I'm thinking I will have to learn to love that HH service button because the other option for me sux big time also. mega expensive sbus rx's rather than the 2x £25 sat rx's & your good to go spektrum aproach with futaba they make you pay through the nose to get rid of those rx wires.
Another issue I don't know if is the fault of the vortex or futaba but how the hell do you get your throttle into the unit when it comes out of a sat style port into the rx? This is in an electric helicopter where the rx power & esc signal come in on one plug?

I found the learning process bloody hard too Martin but now I have no issues. It was like when switching from Windows to MAC. Took a while to get used to how it works but now much better for it.

I use Sbus and these, £12 dearer but with confidence of NO signal issues which EVERYONE see's from a Vbar log. P-R6203SB/2-4G | FUTABA 3/8CH RX (S-BUS) (HV) 2.4GHZ The mear fact a signal switch occurs is not good!

      Futaba & flybarless issues

The futaba sbus rx's are the same cost as two spektrum sats.

Futaba takes some getting used to but once your intune with it you'll wonder why you struggled with the spektrum stuff for so long.

        Futaba & flybarless issues

Just give it some time I strongly advise using SBus receivers as it cuts all that wiring out! I've always used Futaba but even then it took me a while to get my head around the 8FG.

Martin, I just finish setting up the Vortex on my N5c, with SBus and was a breeze mate. So simple.

Takes time to get used to it, but it's worth it.

me too... tried about anything possible, didn't help.

Antenna switch means it missed two consecutive frames. So there is a 33 ms instantaneous latency instead of 11 ms. Happens every 30 seconds or so on my helis.
Of course I could spend another €1000 and go Futaba to get rid of the log entries. But then, maybe I won't ...

Cheers for all the support xygax is going to lend me a sbus rx & help me.
Think my issue revolves around a new tx system & a new flybarless system maybe wasn't good timing

Glad your on the road to sorting it Martin! Im using a 7C and where its not actually straight forward to program. Its bloody brilliant!! Soo nice to fly with. I let a mate fly my Rappy with it earlier and he has a DX8 and couldnt get over how much better the gimbals are on the Futaba.

Im thinking about an 8fg myself, but the 7c is soo good I cant see any reason to swap!!

remember, Spektrum designs for average people who have a 20 % bigger right than left hand.
If you happen to be not the "average person" but have same-sized hands (I do), you can change the collective stick limits mechanically and recalibrate.

And in case this post doesn't seem to make any sense: Have a close look at the collective and elevator stick travel range in your Spektrum radio. You'll notice something...
