  • Dx7 - what is on each of your switches?

Flight mode (top back left) switches between flight modes which changes the gov rpm setting also. Normal, idle1 1850 rpm, idle2 2100rpm. I currently have the same pitch range in idle 1 and 2 (and t hold) and only in normal is the negative pitch restricted.

Elev dual rate does nothing but could be setup as elev dual rate

    Aux 1 currently does nothing

Aux 2 currently does t hold.

Aileron dual rate does nothing but could be setup as aileron dual rate

Rudder dual rate is currently gyro gain HH/Rate.

I’d like to free up the rudder dual rate and use it as a rudder dual rate to help my pirouetting manoevres – but the gyro gain can only be on this switch or the flight mode switch – and the rudder dual rate is not assignable to another switch.
I’m thinking of putting rate mode in the normal mode and HH in idle 2 and 3 as that is where I fly all the time. I could put rate mode in idle 1 because I generally fly in idle 2… I like to flick in and out of rate mode before takeoff after carrying to the flight line. Unlike a 401 the CSM happily initializes in either mode.

I’m amazed that all modern radios do not have every channel and every switch assignable – I guess for a lot of folks it would add confusion – but there could always be a reset to default option to help them out.

I've got my gyro switching between NR & HH on my gear switch (not using the Gyro Sense option); and TH on the Rudder DR switch.
Peace: Being left alone to examine the new bits you've just bought!

ive got my idle ups and govoner speeds on the idle switch, this is also tied into the aux 2 switch so that dont actually do alot. the gyro gain is on the gear switch and the rudder d/r is the throttle hold.
      All the best
      Tony.

put gyro gain on the gear switch and then on idle up 1 and 2 set different rudder d/r (as it's the same switch)

The Futaba 9C Super is very good in this respect, you can re-assign almost everything - and even has a timer that can be assigned to start with the throttle (great for electrics - esp my e-plank/glider that starts and stops its motor runs). I gather that even the 9 channel successor to the DX7 can't do all that!
The few minor irritations with the DX7, as noted, are the main reason I didn't get one. A Tx is one of the, if not THE, major purchase of any model/equipment outlay and you don't want more Txs than you need - so I want one really good one, specified to the hilt. I'm waiting on the UK delivery of the DSX9 - it better be worth it!!!!!
