Flight mode (top back left) switches between flight modes which changes the gov rpm setting also. Normal, idle1 1850 rpm, idle2 2100rpm. I currently have the same pitch range in idle 1 and 2 (and t hold) and only in normal is the negative pitch restricted.
Elev dual rate does nothing but could be setup as elev dual rate
Aux 1 currently does nothing
Aux 2 currently does t hold.
Aileron dual rate does nothing but could be setup as aileron dual rate
Rudder dual rate is currently gyro gain HH/Rate.
I’d like to free up the rudder dual rate and use it as a rudder dual rate to help my pirouetting manoevres – but the gyro gain can only be on this switch or the flight mode switch – and the rudder dual rate is not assignable to another switch.
I’m thinking of putting rate mode in the normal mode and HH in idle 2 and 3 as that is where I fly all the time. I could put rate mode in idle 1 because I generally fly in idle 2… I like to flick in and out of rate mode before takeoff after carrying to the flight line. Unlike a 401 the CSM happily initializes in either mode.
I’m amazed that all modern radios do not have every channel and every switch assignable – I guess for a lot of folks it would add confusion – but there could always be a reset to default option to help them out.
