Autos in phoenix are far too easy.

even a 500 is sometimes a bit of a bugger to auto, ive auto'ed a 250, that was very hard, 450 wasnt to bad, with vblades, IMO the best blades you can use to auto a 450 with

That's really useful. I'm not rushing to do a real auto. Lots of other ways of breaking a heli. There doesn't seem to be an escape option either as by the time you know you've misjudged it, its too late. Perhaps you could tune a model in Phoenix so it works properly. Does raising the headspeed help in real life as it does in Phoenix? I suppose full negative collective doesn't make the rotors turn that well either.

This is one thing you can experiment with without risking your helicopter.

Wait until there's a good breeze blowing, then take your little helicopter and hold it vertically, with the bottom of the rotor disk into the wind. As you change the collective values, you'll find the rotor speed will change dramatically. There is usually a "sweet spot" where the rotor speed will be noticeably higher than anywhere else---there are other factors in the auto but it seems to me that you want the collective set around that point.

When pulling back gradually on the elevator, the H/S will increase.

Best thing to do imo is watch the Curtis Youngblood video first if you havent already, and when you do attempt an auto for the first time, ask someone who is competant at doing them to stand with you and guide you through it.

They arent difficult, but they arent as easy as Phoenix makes them out to be.
