  • speccie AR6100E Question

Had a little bump on Sunday with the 450 when it appeared to lose signal 50 yds out and 10' up.

The AR6100E RX is mounted above the bottom tray with the aerials poking straight out each side so would have thought its about as good as it gets.

It did a bit of an uncommanded wibbly/wobble with either partial or no control.

I just managed to hit Th hold but uncertain whether it actually did go to hold. Damage was light so looking over the model the only thing amiss was a stripped 65MG gearset/blades/Mainshaft and a TT gear and all appears to work ok.

Am I correct in saying as the RX light was still solid its indicating that the voltage had not dropped away? BUT does this rule out lose of signal or just relate to the voltage?

Not impressed as Ive flown this model for 2yrs without a Glitch using FASST

TX is also a DX8. One from the vibration Alert affected batch which shows no symptoms of the issue and is well flown now..

Model went down mid-flight (when no alarm is activated) have also flown it a fair amount with full range AR8000 with flight Logging.. and again straight afterwards with my 550 Hybrid with no issue.

Are the parkflying RX's prone to this as Ive always used full range RX's with Speccie till now.

Flashing light means a loss of connection; wether that be from low voltage brownout or otherwise doesnt matter. No flashing light means no loss of connection between RX and TX. I'd ve looking for any loose of suspect servo wires if you've only just swapped RX's.

      static possibly

You may have experienced a brown out through static from the tail belt. I assume it is not the pro with torque tube. If you have a DX8 from the dodgy batch I recommend sending it back for updating. I know someone who lost control of their their 600ESP just before Christmas due to the timer problem. It had been fine right up til then. Horizon only took 3 days to return it.

OK thats good to know as it is going to narrow things down a bit. I can pretty much eliminate the radio link then.

Possibles then are...bad gear in the L/H ft servo as its been bumped before

Poor connection at Rx (need to drop the bottom plate but think I used gobbleyguk as far as I can remember) but will need to be checked. Wiring looks good and un-stretched/chaffed as I'm quite carefull.

At least it was a £3 set of Main blades..LOl

I damaged one set of 65mg gears in a crash, then within 10 flights or so the other 2 sets both stripped in flight, so check them carefully.

Yep TX may have to go back at some point but its the down time I'm not happy about. Plus it does test OK

Flying up here is weather dependant till May and I take every oppurtunity being finished at Lunch time mostly. Being up North carriage times are hopeless from couriers too being (Highlands & Islands) The only exception is RM Special delivery at £20.

            Its a real pain

Makes you wonder about using metal gear sets on a 450 at £10ea and £17 for the whole servo. If they are going to go every time might as well use £2.50 plastics!

To be fair, mine has been in the dirt (and concrete hall floor!) many many times, and the servo's were 2nd hand when I put them in 18 months ago, so they did well! They were just worn out. Never done a set just crashing though.

brian i run a 6100e on one of my foamys and nearly always fly it till the power runs out as i never remember to set a timer i have never had any problems with it losing signal as far as im aware the light is only for power loss at the receiver end easy way to test is to arm every thing up then switch off the radio then on again to see if it makes any difference to the light then try switching the model off then on to see what difference that makes im sure that will make the light blink , i can fly the foamy as high as i can see it without any problem its a 1 meter wing span so it goes a fair hight i can break the clouds on the right day

I think the Pros a bit hard on servos, my Beam went in constantly for a year and never striped a mg65, I've done 2 sets on the pro in very few crashes curious!!!!

                      3 football pitches

I seem to recall someone saying that park fly RX such as the 6100 have a range of approx 3 football pitches. If you are flying a 450 that far then you have bloody good eyesight. It is going to be way out of sight before being out of range. Good luck with finding out what it was..please let us know.
